This was our first visit. It was our anniversary so we included that in our reservation. From our arrival on, everyone was gracious and welcoming. Our note paid off, too. We'd asked for and got a nice booth. But more than that, it had a...first row view of the kitchen. We were fascinated watching it. Very cool. Our server, Sara, was spectacular. She was super friendly and we had a great time because of her. Outstanding! But the food itself was mixed. First, the pluses. We split a wedge salad and it was excellent. I loved my filet. Super tender and cooked to perfection. We had a dessert on the house, vanilla caramel cake, and it was scrumptious. Oh, and my husband's martinis were huge, too. But there were a few flaws as well. The bread they brought out as a starter was awful. Almost unchewably tough. My husband had a bone in ribeye and while it was cooked fine, it wasn't prime. Pretty chewy. And the side of Brussels sprouts were underdone. Still hard. But the service won us over. We've eaten in a lot of very nice places and this was the best service ever.More

The food is really good and it is expensive, a place to go when you have money or want to altar that you have money. That is not a knock on the restaurant because they do everything right and better than alright for carnivores. The...Chicago steak house feel from the 50s is just not my favorite vibe.More

Very Good Take-out Not all that long ago, we had hosted a business dinner for my wife’s UK board at Steak 44. That was a less than stellar experience. Fast forward to the times of COVID, and all of the changes in dining. We were...visiting some winemaker friends in Paradise Valley. They had fled the fires in Sonoma, for their part-time home in Phoenix. It was decided that we would do take-out for dinner, and they pulled out the menu from Steak 44. I flashed back to that board dinner, but did allow as how the food was the highlight of the evening. Now, take out is often fraught with issues. Even being in fairly close proximity to the restaurant, there is still the time to get the food home. In this case, we had ordered the Salmon, and the Sea Bass. Our hostess took the items from their containers, and plated them beautifully. We sat down to a beautiful Bouchard Pere & Fils Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Domaine Chandon de Briailles Corton Grand Cru, plus two of our host’s award-winning Pinot Noirs, and were set! Both fish dishes, plus the sides we ordered, were excellent, and that is no easy task. Unlike my first experience (wife had hosted two business lunches there before), this was so very good. Maybe it was all made better by dining with our friends, and finding out that their winery was spared from the horrible fires, but the food was very good. In these times, I was duly impressed.More

On the way from Phoenix to Kansas City, we asked our hotel Concierge for a restaurant recommendation. Without hesitation, he said STEAK 44! We are so very thankful for his fine suggestion. We called immediately and were very kindly accommodated even on short notice. The...atmosphere is exceptionally nice. A great spot to celebrate any special occasion. And the food is truly over the top. So very delicious. Please know the servings are generous and they pour very nice drinks at the bar. Fabulous service too. We can't wait to return!More

Brought my wife here for her birthday dinner at her request when she saw photos of another friend having their birthday dinner here. The place is still good at having the steak dinner getaway feeling while also having COVID protections in place. All staff wore...masks and there was hand sanitizer in multiple places. The menus are one use and get torn and recycled to ensure that one use. At the same time, you still get to focus on the steak and seafood. We had a shrimp cocktail and a king crab avocado tower to start. I liked both but liked the huge shrimp cocktail better. We split a chopped salad and they were very kind to actually put it on two plates. The salad was fresh and very good. We then split the bone in ribeye, and it came out on a superheated plate still sizzling dressed with butter and parsley. It tasted great and was cooked perfectly. The wild mushrooms that we got with the steak were awesome. They brought us out a dessert for my wife’s birthday, and we went simple with the berries and cream. It was well worth the price for the quality of steak and seafood. Staff was wonderful and very helpful and friendly. I look forward to coming back again.More

Randomly picked this place on a whim and happy we did ! We celebrated my bday and our anniversary with an awesome, delicious dinner ! We started off with crispy shrimp and shishito peppers. He had the bone in filet and I had the tomahawk...porkchop. We also did a half serving of fresh Alaskan king crab legs and hasselback potatoes. It's our first dining-in experience since last March 14 (last time dining out) when all this Covid-19 closing started, and I will say this was a 5 star welcome back experience, following all the restaurant Covid rules. Every other table being occupied next to an...empty table with a flower arrangement on it to indicate no one will be sitting there. Paper menus, only candles on the table, everyone wearing mask including the customers as you enter till you are seated at your table. We were a party of 3, spaced apart from one other tabled occupied in the small room. Our server Treye, very nice, attentive, just friendly enough. I ordered my favorite cocktail here, a Cosmopolitan. Appetizers ordered were Pork Belly and Jumbo Shrimp. Main dishes were the Small NY Strip with truffle butter, Bone-in Veal Chop, Crab Cakes, Fries and Creamed Spinach. All the food was cooked to order perfectly and tasted fantastic. We ended our dinner with an Anniversary Chocolate Cake with Mini Chocolate Chip Cookies. Atmosphere and Service: excellent, same as before with all the "new restaurant rules" enforced. Food: excellentMore
