We began and concluded our visit to Phoenix by dining at Gertrude's. An outstanding, imaginative and pleasant dining experience. The food was delectable, the service warm and impeccable and the surroundings found ourselves in a botanical paradise. I cannot say enough about the menu offerings...and the savvy wine list. Michelle Jacob and Dave our waiter enhanced our meals with their knowledge and professional while caring service. We even joined the Desert Botanical Gardens as a result of the well being experienced at dinner.More

Amazing restaurant on site of the botanical gardens. The food was well priced and fresh. I love that they use ingredients from the edible garden. The cocktails available were fresh and creative! They also had seating options both indoors and outdoors. Staff was friendly. If...you can make a reservation in advance. They also offer great seasonal specials for mealsMore

Beautiful views, fabulous food, attentive wait staff. This restaurant is an oasis in the botanical garden and it was nice to eat and relax after strolling around the gardens for a few hours.

Wonderful outdoor breakfast. After a walk thru the garden (not necessary to be able to dine there) we had a beautiful breakfast outside. Very attentive waite staff. I had the French toast, which had prickly pear syrup and white chocolate chips, (1/2 order ) and...crispy bacon. Wonderful. Husband had American breakfast which was plentiful. Great way to spend a Sunday morning.More

Little on the spendy side but was worth it very nice we enjoyed the unique items. We did the hummus plate and elote fritters and it was enough food for the 2 of us and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Also has...a prickly pear drink it was very different.More

Nice upscale place located inside the botanical gardens( you can dine without going to the gardens). Changing selection on local dishes with locally sourced ingredients. Great experience for a celebration or visiting friends!

We visited Gertrude's last year when it was full of people and it was an outstanding experience. This time due the pandemic, we were the only customers, but the quality and ambience were still great. Kristin took great care of us- so warm, friendly and...knowledgeable. All of her recommendations were top notch. We had the Green Chile Boar Stew for an appetiser- very hearty and filling, and delicious. We had the Braised Beef Short Ribs for our main meal, and they were the tenderest and most flavorful (with red chile gravy) we've ever tried. For dessert, we tried the goat cheesecake with caramel sauce- pure yum! We look forward to returning to Gertrude's again next year when we return to Phoenix and the Desert Botanical Garden!More

The pandemic effects have afforded us the opportunity to truly indulge our guests - a treat we don't often get. I love that you felt and appreciated the extra care and shared as much. We look forward to your next visit. Travel safe.

Husband and I finished a great morning in the Botanical Gardens with one of the freshest, most flavorful and enjoyable lunches we have ever had. Three Sisters soup and shaved root salad with a sunflower-Thai spiced dressing that knocked our socks off! Great service, great...patio, wish we lived here we would be back over and over.More

We reserved a table for lunch ahead of time which was a good idea. When reserving they asked if we were celebrating an event. I let them know that it was actually my husband's bday. They gave him a bday card and a lovely dessert....We sat outside among the plants and there were some cute and friendly cats roaming around. I had the Lamb curry which was delicious! My vegetarian daughter had the tamale and loved it. Great spot to relax after a nice walk around the gardens.More

My wife and I had a reservation for 5:30pm. Upon approaching the hostess desk, we were given a set of menus and told to seat ourselves. I noticed that everyone who arrived after us were seated by the hostess. Interesting. After ordering, the food arrived...in about 5 minutes. My wife ordered the Tamales and seemed to enjoy them. I ordered the Lamb Curry. Really good flavor, but the serving temperature was lukewarm at best. Between having to seat myself and being served curry that had obviously been sitting out probably before we arrived, I came to the conclusion that perhaps they didn't want us in their establishment. Maybe I don't fit the demographic of their desired customer. I'll steer clear of this place going forward.More

Gregg - your perception is interesting as it is the first that someone didn't enjoy the opportunity to choose the table that made them feel most comfortable. The only time we actually seat folks is if there is a specific request for accommodation. Our clientele...More

I wouldn't say 'near.' Look it up yourself but it would be a several stage journey and I would think a bit of a pain. I would be inclined to Uber if you were staying downtown.
