This could be a restaurant you would find in Vegas or Palm Springs in the 50's with photos of the Rat Pack etc. I would say it's a bit of an older crowd at the restaurant. The service is excellent and the look and feel...of the restaurant is nostalgic. I really enjoyed the food but would have preferred the pasta to be more al dente and my sole could have been prepared more simply like I find in Italy. The ossobuco was tender and excellent. Still it was quite good. I put this in a second tier behind Andreoli, Trattoria D'Amico, Pomo and Trattoria Veneto.More

I booked here for a business dinner as I had no idea what is around the airport area for a good food. Open table had this place listed as good suggestion. The area where the restaurant is located is not your best in Phoenix. Not...like Tempe or Scottsdale for sure. When we walked in we were a little intimidated as the place decor from 70s or 80s and look like an Italian mafia hangout 😜 The service was great by Sergio. The food was also good. I do suggest this place for sure for someone in the area.More

What a special night. Our good friends Julie Sullivan and Michael Belcher shared the evening. He proposed!! It was spur of the moment and amazing!! I was almost brought to tears. So wonderful. The restaurant still brought out a red flowers in a vase. We...had dinner family style. Started with Calamari the continued on.for salad and then other main dishes. Way too much food but all was delicious.More

One of my favorite go places in Phoenix that never disappoints. Arrived and quickly seated. Bread and water right out then Sergio makes wonderful suggestions for dinner. Ended up with oss o bucco over risotto that was wonderful. The Chianti by the glass was a...treat. Can't wait for my next time in the area do I can enjoy Avanti again.More

This reminded me of an old school Italian restaurant (a good thing). All the pasta is hand made. Service was excellent.

We were a group of 12. Most of us had a form of pasta and a few had meat such as the veal chop and the pork chop. The meat choices were beautifully prepared and very tender and flavorful. Those with pasta said it was...the best they'd had in years. Probably because they made their own pasta on site. Several choices of Rombauer wine also helped make the evening a huge hit.More

This particular evening dinner was a special event that lasted 2.5 hours. Each course had a well-matched Rombauer Wine. There was a reception with hors d'oeuvres and Rombauer Sauvignon Blanc. The first course was a delightful Eggplant Rollatini with Rombauer Chardonnay. The second course was...a meat Lasagna with Melot. The main course was Ossobucco Milanese with Cabernet Sauvignon. The desert course was Tiramisu with Zinfandel. All of the courses were outstanding. Wine flowed generously (which probably contributed to the level of conversations). There was a sufficient number of very good servers to complete a lovely wine and dinner event.More

We went on a Monday night (Columbus Day) for an early dinner. We were the only ones in the bar seating area. Very intimate setting for a couples dinner. The food and service were amazing. Perfectly cooked pasta and fresh seafood with vegetables , garlic...bread to die for , great wine , who could ask for more. Our main server , Sergio , took very good care of all of our needs. Highly recommended.More

Wow - I never expected Italian food as good as Avanti in Phoenix, Az!! Found this jewel after a Google search and saw it had best ratings for Italian so we checked it out. Pictures of famous customers line the entrance area and the hall...going to the restrooms. Restaurant has been open since early 1970s and Mr Avanti still comes in every day!! Started with the best Ministrone ever consumed - had huge chunks of fresh vegtables - yumm! The chicken Parm also was best ever and their pasta special absolutely delicious. Very nice decor as well, and service was top-notch.More
