Found ourselves in Phoenix looking for good food at 11pm. We chose this place and I’m so glad we did. Small but diverse menu of really good noodle dishes. Food came out quickly and was really delicious. Highly recommend.

What a find! We only wish we had had time for a drink and time to return to try the appetizer items on the menu. We had the Hostile Takeover, a robust bowl of bulgogi glazed beef with shishito peppers (yep, I took a bite;...just one) and spices, and my friend, a fan of udon, had it Sweet Chili Glazed Udon, full of veggies and chicararone. This place does a booming business, and with good reason. It is the highest quality and a good value.More
Stumbled upon this spot and wasn't up for the loud, packed atmosphere so I had to forego the cocktail menu, which did look enticing. That said, the Mic Drop ramen bowl I carried out was fantastic. Just the right amount of chewiness in the thick...udon noodles, just the right softness to the egg, and more kinds of pork than I can remember, plus kimchi. Seriously fabulous. It was served plenty hot and could easily have fed two. But who would want to share?More
We were staying down the street and wanted some place close to eat. I stumbled on Sosoba on-line and the menu looked SO good. We walked down to the restaurant and we were happy with the vibe of the place. The food, however, was not...nearly as good as it sounded. The best thing we got was the General Tso Tso Cauliflower. The Gyoza was decent but the Hostile Takeover noodle dish did not have much flavor. It was just ok. I was hoping for a much richer broth with more flavor. The drinks were ok. The Tea and Oranges and June Rose were the drinks we sampled and they were decent, but nothing memorable. Overall, Sosoba was not bad but not good.More
Various aspects of this restaurant have been named "Best of Phoenix" over the last few years and those awards are well-deserved! The food is fresh, tasty, authentic - all with a few special tweaks by the chefs. Be sure to get the cauliflower ... cooked...to perfection with a slightly sweet sauce that makes it tasty for sure - even for folks who typically don't like cauliflower. Lots of noodles variety with different levels of spice/heat. The drinks ... oh, my ... any kind of Saki you want, plus mixed drinks made with extra care and flair. Service is quick, personal, attentive and friendly. Want to know more about a specific dish or drink? Just ask! Atmosphere is casual and relaxed and there is a small outdoors seating area which is wonderful if the weather is good. This is a great place for happy hour - good prices and food specials. Long hours, too, for night owls. Location in downtown Phoenix is just 3 blocks from the light rail stop. One huge problem is parking, but seek and ye shall find. My friends and I have been here twice and are planning another visit soon.More
This was my first stop upon moving into town, Spencer, the bartender, went above and beyond to ensure I got the best first impression of Roosevelt area-makes a killer old-fashioned and made some useful recommendations for things to do in the area. Thanks for a...great welcome to town.More
This casual restaurant is in my opinion, more asian fusion with an abundant of delicious sounding options listed on their menu. You can choose what type of noodle you would like in almost every dish listed. We tried the General TsoTso's Cauliflower and found it...to be delicious. The slightly sweet sauce was a nice addition. The deep fried Mac & Cheese Ball was just ok - nothing special. The Viet Nom Nom Nom salad was good as well although, we only found 1 kernel of corn in it!! I enjoyed the mushroom Bao buns, but the others in our group did not care for them. The Hostile Takeover with tofu instead of meat was enjoyed by all, but we do wish we had chosen a different type of noodle. We were to full to try dessert, so we will to leave that for another day. Our waitress was very nice, friendly and helpful.More
I love ramen and try to find at least one ramen spot in every place I visit. As a mostly vegetarian (although I am not too particular about stocks, but pork/beef I can't eat), I realize that I am not able to indulge in the...some of the best ramen that is available. Sosoba had some good reviews and was near to where I happened to be, so I gave it a shot. It was late afternoon/early evening and the restaurant was pretty empty. Perhaps I should have taken this a hint, but I am not sure. The staff was very friendly and attentive. While not technically a ramen dish, I ordered the SUV (So You're Vegan) which was a noodle, veggies, and Japanese curry dish. I was expecting a curry ramen-esque dish, which is mostly what I got, but somehow, despite the curry, despite fresh-seeming vegetables, the dish was disappointingly bland. Almost entirely flavorless. The first few bites, when the dish was hottest, were quite good, but I may have been deceived by the heat. Filling, good portion, just really lacking in flavor. Maybe the meat-broth ramens fare better. I wasn't expecting the happy hour prices, and I am not even sure if they were advertised. At $11 for the entree, I wasn't too bothered by the lack of flavor, but was pleasantly surprised to find my bill closer to $6.More
Ordered Calamari and Bad Bun Trio. Yuck! Had to leave ASAP, food made me want to puke. Both dishes are covered in an overly sweet sauce, tasted more like a dessert. The pork belly was pure fat. Not going back ever.
This is a ramen/noodle restaurant with a innovative menu. We have been here twice with mixed results. The first time the food was very good. The second time they had dialed back the size of the portions and the taste. On each visit the service...was fair. Take a chance, they might be having a good day.More
