Food poor. Extra charge for microwaved dried on enchilada sauce on burrito. Soda flat. Food is obviously microwaved. 17.95 for burrito and rice. La Hacienda 100x better.

They accepted a reservation for a large group >60 people (from out of state) @ $35 per person for a Buffet set up. They are NOT set up to accommodate that large of a group. The buffet was terrible. (Beans, Rice, Chicken, Beef) Condiments ran...out early (Salsa, cheese, sour cream & light green like dressing) They were bringing tables in from outside to seat everyone. It was chaos, terrible food. Shame on them for accepting a reservation & charging an outrageous price per person for beans/rice & chicken/beef.More
poor service. Wifes food came out wrong, had to hunt down server to let her know..she diapeeared in bavk for 10 minute stretchs. My burrito not as ordered either. Server was terrible, not attentive. Food tasted good but this place aint inexpensive. One wonders where...management was.More
My husband and I tried El Charro Café for Happy Hour and were not disappointed! The appetizer menu is substantial and with $2 off and generous portions, it is a real bargain. There were $2 off the margaritas as well. My favorite drink was the...1922. The Tamale Stuffed Mushrooms and Shrimp Ceviche were my favorite appetizers.More
Nice atmosphere and good service. However, my wife’s corn tamales were served frozen at lunch today. Went back for a quick trip to probably the microwave. When her plate returned, she had lost her appetite so basically left the entire plate uneaten. My meal was...good. Main problem now is she never wants to go back to El Charro and I like the place.More
The atmosphere is very nice. The salsa is good. Be ware that the El Charro dishes contain the dried meat which creates a very dry dish.
I got a chimichanga which was way to big and the chicken was tuff. My wife got a plate with a small steak that I thought was over priced. The waiter was very good and attentive. Very nice place but have been to better Mexican...restaurants in Tucson.More
A group of five of us tried this place for dinner based on recommendation from friend. We were happy with the dinner overall. Started with the table side guacamole which was good (but not nearly the best we'd ever tried). We all had different main...dishes and all in all we were quite pleased. Certainly above average Mexican food. Highlight dish was probably the Carne Asada Platter (beef). The Margaritas were very good. Certainly this place is worth going back to.More
Had to try the chimichangas and the carne seca.....which I could do all in one. Really tasty. Such a huge selection....hard to choose. Thought the prices were a bit high, but the food is plentiful. Chips authentic and good.
This is the oldest Mexcian Restaurant in Tucson. Outstanding food and service. The chips are very unique.
There are a few small chef-owned Mexican restaurants in Tucson that can match El Charro's food and provide a more intimate experience, but if you do not mind an high energy atmosphere, El Charro is for you.
My wife and I ate at El Charro recently. The service was prompt and friendly. My wife had carne seca relleno; I had carne seca enchiladas. Both were delicious! Their carne seca would be very fine in any sort of dish. Also the chips are...some of the best.More
This restaurant stands out! The food is flavorful and felt lighter going dow than most Mexican restaurants. Will come back if in Tucson again.
They tout the "Charro Taco" but I did not care for it at all. Honestly if I wanted a hamburger I'd just have it on a bun, not a tortilla. I found it dry, tasteless, and there were no peas anywhere to be seen. The...enchiladas tasted pre-made as in frozen and came across as doughy and I did not think the cheese in them was good. I have had better frozen. The chicken mole was good but it was small. Of all of it, the red posole was by far the best.More
Recommended by a local to try El Charro, as well as after reading reviews - ordered out and went with the carne seca chimichanga, the one that made them famous, and the meat was awesome - very different but wonderful flavor. The relleno was however,...a disappointment.More
