We got to the Iron Door as they were closing and were delighted and surprised when they agreed to feed us. There were only two choices that late in the day so we both had the chili and cornbread. Very good food. the waitress was a joy even though it was the end of the day and we were made... More

Well we drove up the mountain so we stopped for lunch. We were seated by the window but view was only of trees. Service was awful with a waiter who I could not understand. We had chili with cornbread and sliders. For ketchup they hand you packets. The chili was good but overpriced. The corn bread was authentic but not... More

We had lunch here after enjoying the drive. We both had Chili and cornbread. Very good. Good service also, from walking in to time to leave. Only 44 degrees outside so the fire was a nice surprise. We sat close enough to feel the warmth. Wanted some cobbler but were too full. No complaints at all from us.

It seems if you want to sit on the cozy side with the fire place and view of trees you have to badger the hostess. At least that is what the group in front of us did, and others that followed. We didn't badger her, so we were set by ourselves on the side facing the outdoor deck. The waiter... More

We only tried the individual fruit pies and coffee. Mine was cherry and wife's was rhubarb - cherry was very good and wife said hers was the best ever. Coffee was good. Service was great. Eating outside was wonderful.

We went to the restaurant with my wife, puppy Labrador and friend's with two small kids. Right at the front entrance, a tall, blond guy, I guess in early twenties was taking the table reservation. This one guy completely destroyed the entire feeling about this place. We wanted to be seated outside with our puppy dog. He claimed that we... More

The food here is well worth the drive up the mountain! Breakfast is fresh and tasty. The service is always friendly and excellent. If you stop in, you MUST try a mountain berry pie.

Yesterday (8/11), even though there was a 40% chance of rain, we decided that a trip to Mount Lemmon was in order. It was hot and humid here in Tucson, and we needed a bit of a break from that. We had not been to the "Iron Door" for over five years, and our last visit was so miserable, that... More

We decided to take a trip up to Mt. Lemmon to get out of the Tucson heat for the day. So we went up the mountain and spent a little time at Summerhaven. Then we went up the hill always to Ski Valley and had lunch at the Iron Door. Our waiter was full of good humor and we had... More

Description
The restaurant is located atop the Catalina Mountains and gives a warm home style feeling. With the fireplace crackling in the back round one might think they were in a lodge in a major skiing area. Casual dining, family friendly..
