Cafe Hood is a fantastic little restaurant. We were staying the apartments above and ending up eating here for almost every meal during our stay. The owner is an amazing chef, and every dish we ordered was tasty and affordable. We are meat eaters, but nearly every dish had a vegetarian option that would still be delicious and filling. The portions were a good size, particularly the Andes and Hindu bowls which we were able to split and both be full. The staff is super friendly, and the outdoor patio has a view of a waterfall that is just above the thermal baths. A must visit spot in Banos for sure.

I had seen the reviews for this place, but stumbled across another one with a similar name (see other review). Once I did find this one and ate there, I saw the difference (can't help wondering if some of the reviews have gotten crisscrossed). Anyway, I had a delicious and satisfying meal here. The service was gracious and attentive, the atmosphere soothing (how can you beat eating while looking at/hearing a waterfall and nice jazz music), and the food was well balanced and tasty. I had the enchilada plater, and came away stuffed. I do recommend this place and look forward to returning when I'm back in Baños.

I read about this cafe in Lonely Planet so I decided to try it. I was greeted by a wonderful Italian man at the door. I sat on the outside patio (covid ya know). I had a wonderful talk about music and travel with him. They were playing great jazz music such as Miles, Lady Day, Pat Methany... He had worked in Italy, Central America and several other places. The garlic bread appetizer was served with a spicy Italian type sauce that had a nice afterburn. Not too hot at first taste but a nice lingering spicy flavor on your pallet. The fish was served in a nice white wine cream sauce. Subtle flavors that allowed the fish flavors to come through. The owner came out to speak with me after she heard that I was visiting from California and we talked for a long time. She lived and learned to cook in San Francisco USA. I had lived there also so we were reminiscing about the good old days in SF. Turns out she grows her own vegetables in her garden and it shows. Great atmosphere, great food and wonderful service. Clean and courteous also. Going back tonight. My last in Banos.

Cafe Hood was recommended to us by the manager of our lodging, so we checked it out. First off - the prices are quite high. While the "bowl" style entree that my girlfriend got looked great and she loved it, I had an entirely different experience - so I will warn you: do not get the fish. it was dry and tough. When I mentioned this to the woman at checkout, I received a mumbled response that I couldn't make out because she wouldn't even look at me, but I'm guessing it had something to do with the fish being frozen and hard to cook? My suggestion is to not offer it if you can't cook it right. My Spanish isn't fluent enough to get into a debate with her, and no offering of apology or reduction in price was brought forward, so I left no tip and am leaving this review.

We liked it so much, we came back for lunch the next day! Both our hotel and a friend who has relocated to Cuenca recommended this as his favorite. Homey chic, with great food. I had the Nosi Goreng(?) and my wife had the Thai green curry. Everything was fresh and tasty and we traded half way through! THey have fresh fruit juice and an interesting array of non alc drinks after a long day of hiking. We went back for lunch the next day. The menu is all over the place, east asian, latin, norteamericano/american. They only accept cash, so be prepared for that. Great place.

Excellent food with excellent service. Interesting menu with authentic international flavors. Few people know how to keep chicken breast moist. This chef clearly does. We live in a nearby city and will definitely be back. BTW: Lunch is the main meal of the day in Ecuador and theirs was excellent, filling and fairly priced.

The Café offers a variety of excellent vegetarian as well as conventional plates, which I can't judge because I'm a vegetarian. It is for this Café that I stayed longer than I planned in Baños, Karina is an excellent cook as well as an excellent conversational partner who speaks English very well. This is a meeting point for all the wonderful and peaceful souls who live or visit Baños.

Sitting close to the base of a huge waterfall, this restaurant and hotel is in one of the quieter parts of town. It is unusual in Banos as it has some Asia and Mexican dishes. The food was excellent. The owner is very friendly and the service was fantastic.

We had dinner here. I had the a la Indonesia and my wife Mexican tacos. My wife liked her dish reasonably well but something was off with mine. The sauce tasted too strong. Not quite sure whether the ginger or the soy base. My pineapple smoothy was also remarkably unsweet.

We stopped in for lunch after a long drive to Banos because it was close to our hotel. Pleasant place overlooking the street. I had phad thai with chicken. It was delicious and the portion was big enaccommodating. A bottle of wine was way cheaper here than in Quito. Our server was super friendly and accomodating. After looking around, we ended up back here for a light dinner, too...actually just a banana flambeada for me and it was bigger than I expected and delicious, just like the lunch. Highly recommended!

Pleasant place, good atmosphere, different standard yet pretentious place, does not reflect a defined kitchen. It has a lot of styles of food and maybe it's the missus. Trying to catch a lot of flavors and maybe not find his taste that reflects the special nature of the place. Missing when there is the potential

The service was excellent and the staff were so lovely and friendly to chat to! There is a big menu with food from all over the world. I had the bolognese while my partner had the pad Thai and both were amazing! Would definitely recommend. Really nice relaxed atmosphere with good views of the waterfall too!

This is one of the best restaurants I visited while in Baños! Not only was the location immaculate, but the food was really good as well. From fresh pesto spaghetti to absolutely wonderful waffle and eggs in the morning! If you are visiting Baños this is a must visit. See the Cathedral that is not far away then the waterfall right next to it.

Very friendly service, cozy atmosphere, delicious food at a reasonable price. The chicken enchiladas were very tasty. Close to the water fall, easy to find. Would definitely go back again.

Being close to the waterfall, this restaurant is in one of the quieter parts of town. It is not common in Baños, as it has some Asian,Mexican, Indian and more types of food. The food was really good. The owner was friendly and the service was good too.
