My wife and I walked all the way from the other side of town to give this place a go, and overall had a good experience. We ordered one Veggie Lasagne (250.00 pesos - one of the best I've had!), one lentil stew (210.00), and a table service of 50.00 pesos...... You do get a lovely, warm, homemade bread though.... This attractive restaurant has a varied selection of typical Argentine food. I had a stew and was impressed with the size of the dish and the quality of the food. We had a couple of glasses of a nice Argentine Malbec with our meal to accompany the food. My wife had a fish dish (salmon) and enjoyed it as well.

Food at Pura Vida is a nice change to the usual Parilla-Restaurants. We had a brown-rice wok which was lovely. As a starter they serve you quite a big homemade bread The place is very popular, go early or make a reservation.

We stumbled into here because we had seen it from our bus returning from a day trip, because it looked funky and because it was over the road from the place we were staying... but I have to say it's one of the best 'convenient stumbles' ever! It was so go we stumbled in again the 2nd night. The service... More

A fresh-baked, circular loaf of bread was served to our table shortly after we were seated. It was crusty on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. We had heard that the meat pie was a large portion so we decided to split it and ordered a lamb empanada (42 pesos) along with it as an appetizer. The... More

A fun place, all brightly coloured, with Buddhas, medicine wheels and Oms; it’s the feel of international yoga hippies, turned into what feels like a successful restaurant. We had delicious warm bread, and then each had a stew, a lamb one covered in puff pastry, very nice, and a very hearty and delicious beef stew served in a baked pumpkin.... More

We came here based on TripAdvisor reviews, as it was the closest well ranked near our hotel. After having eaten in some pretentious restaurants around, we were very happy with a big portion of meat pie with mashed potato au gratin. Counsiously we shared for 3 (should be 2 if we were hungry) and dived into the delicious deserts. Go... More

Excellent food, wine, service, decor...at very reasonable prices...any empanada, the lamb stew, the Patagonian wine...difficult to imagine we will do better at other restaurants in El Calafate.
