El Patacon is a traditional, old style establishment offering continental cuisine that's likely to appeal to older folks seeking more traditional, rather than creative food. Ingedients are of high quality, but preparation is simple and "old style". Portions are large. Preparation is mixed; the grilled trout was of excellent quality, and the grilled preparation was simple, with the integrity of... More

The wait staff was fine, but the food was not. Both our meals-trout and steak were overcooked. I would not go back as there were much better cheaper choices in the area. They do give you a complimentary drink while you wait for your table.

El Patacon has an ambience that is charming from an architectural perspective with beautiful lake views. The food offerings got a somewhat mixed reception from our party of 4. Two of us took starters, a smoked trout that was well presented and delicious and a pumpkin soup that was also tasty. The 4 main courses consisted of a) flounder that... More

Our hosts at the hotel we are staying in suggested the El Patacon for dinner. The exterior and interior are impressive with the use of wood everywhere. Upon arrival we were treated to a nice glass of white wine with framboise added. The menu was extensive and the meats looked great but we decided on fish. My wife had the... More

It's a beautiful place, but the food is not as impressive as the decoration and details of the place itself.

Poor restaurant which is very privileged with nice views. Appetizers were very nice however main dishes were really poor. The service was ok. The price is not up to the standards of the quality of food delivered (and I don't mind paying for something that is of great quality). Overall much better restaurants and better prices (or same prices for... More

This restaurant seems a pretty good value for money ratio. Relaxed ambience, suitable for both couples and (relatively quiet) families. International menu ranging from patagonial lamb, through mushroom risottos to various trouts and salmons. The kids menu pasta was superb (and abundant). Service was ok for international standards; out of the ordinary for Bariloche standards!

Excellent food! My trip to Argentina became a gastronomic tour, and it was impossible not to stop at this beautiful restaurant in San Carlos de Bariloche. As you know beef is the typical dish in Argentina, but this time I decided on the salmon raviolis, OMG, it was absolutely delicious!! and the desserts... They have a sampler of all desserts,... We were a family of 12 visiting this place to celebrate our 50th anniversary and my wife birthday. Interest place and atmosphere with nice views of the lake from some of the tables. The lamb and beef were a total disappointment. Meats were overcooked, tough and way overpriced. Salads and other dishes were fine.

In February 2016 a group of seasoned travelers spent one week in San Carlos de Bariloche Argentina. We discovered this wonderful restaurant, El Patacon, on our first night in Bariloche. Our first night's experience was only exceeded by three more trips to El Patacon for a total of four unique dinning experiences. The service and attention from the staff and... More
