Dominic, the manager/bartender was very friendly and efficient. The Bean Dip was pretty good and the Fajita Salad was good too. Could have used black beans on the salad. The Margarita was premixed and tapped like a beer. I couldn't taste the tequila and have had better margaritas elsewhere. The interior is nice and clean and have beautiful painted artwork... More

Sorry, just didn't do anything for me. Spicy salsa not that spicy. Mild salsa just seemed bland. No beans on a fajita salad. Portions are quite large, though. Best part was that the restaurant was within walking distance of the hotel.

First taste of AZ on a recent business trip. Was taken there by co-worker who is familiar with the restaurant. Had the chilaquiles casserole, food was good, just way to big for one person. This would not be an issue if you weren't traveling for business and the hotel you stay in has a refrigerator...which mine did not. So a... More

Matta's has a good selection of "real" Mexican food and not the ones the chains usually offer. Their margaritas are good and they often have a mariachi band playing. Service is good.

Good Mexican food. Be aware that they put chopped fine lettuce in the guacamole dip. Refried beans are very tasty as is the salsa that comes to every table, nice and chunky! Fast and friendly service.

We went into the restaurant in the middle of the afternoon. There was no one to greet us for several minutes. Then we saw there was hardly anyone there. The service was slow at best. The food was bland. My girl mentioned that her taco salad may have been the least flavorful she has ever had. Don't waste your time........ More

We met friends at Matta's for dinner at 7 before a show nearby. None of us had eaten there before but we all enjoyed the meal. For me, it always starts with judging the salsa. They give hot and mild, both were really good. I had a chicken enchilada with avocado baja sauce and a Carne machaca enchilada with jalapeño... More

I and two others went to Matta's yesterday for lunch. We've been several times over the last two or three years but hadn't been in a few months. Everything we had was really good but my favorite thing is their red cheese enchiladas. Geez that sauce is perfection. Rich and flavorful. I also love their refried beans which are so... More

We were looking for a restaurant convienent to our hotel for Sunday lunch and found Matta's tuched away in a mall setting nearby. Large menu, prompt service and quality food were better than expected for this type of location. And margaritas were cold, ample and much appreciated.

I have lived in Mesa for 30 years and been to Mattas many times. They have always been decent. Tonight we ordered chicken Fajitas. Worst ever. It was like fake processed rubber substance, not chicken. Told the server to take it back and that we are leaving because if you put that in front of us what crap would you... More
