I spent 2 weeks in Argentina so far. Have been to maybe 20 restaurants, ordered beef around 10 times. This one was probably the best so far. The guys behind the open kitchen (you can watch them work in a relaxed atmosphere) really know their...stuff. They master their cooking times on the asado. Your meat is exactly as you order it, and it's taaaaaasty. We didn't have wine. Prices were in the superior range of what you can find in Mendoza, although I can't tell it's expensive. But actually, this restaurant lost 1 point out of five in my critic because of one single bad thing : I hate it when the staff asks me to put a good critic on TripAdvisorMore

Ordered some medium stakes that came medium rare. Size of the stakes were small and the side potatoes were even smaller. On the upper side the taste was good. The service a bit over the top, the waiters came and took stuff off the table...and asked several times if everything was good. Well, it wasn't. Also the prices too high for what you get. I had eaten a lot more for a lot less in better places in Argentina. I find the high rating of the restaurant to be a bit weird if not misleading.More

I remember that I told you that our portions are per person and you ordered one stake for two. Of course it was small!!!! Our policy, as long as you do not share a meal, is that if you steel feel hungry when you finish...More

This restaurant stood out on TA and was relatively close to where we were staying. We both enjoyed beef dishes for dinner (it was our first night in Mendoza and in Argentina). Both were excellent. The premises are a bit tired looking so need refreshing...but not objectionable. The wait staff is relatively young both attentive.More

Very good place for a great steak Staff is excellent with service Food is very good The visa machine didn’t work for us, the bathrooms are in need of an update. To pick your bottle of wine for dinner, a staff member takes you to...a wine room - if you ask for a recommendation, they’ll offer the most expensive bottles. Personally, I didn’t like this process, I much prefer a wine list where I can make a decision.More

Great spot for a solid steak, cooked in traditional Argentinian way! The open fire is within eyeshot. The selection of vino is quite fine! My steak was done to perfection and the atmosphere was fantastic. It may be my best steak ever.

The steak (tenderloin) was excellent - best I've had in Argentina after 3 weeks here. Not a fancy place, but pleasant with good service.

Within a few days of arriving in Mendoza, my wife and I return to the Cordillera. The food is always excellent and cooked fresh for each table. For those coming from most Mendoza hotels, you must avoid the siren call of the restaurants along Sarmiento...and travel west to Belgrano. It is worth the extra 100 meters, by far!More

The restaurant is great for an evening. The food was great, especially the surf and turf which I ordered. They have very good selection of wines reasonably priced.

My wife and I visited Mendoza twice, and both times we dined at Cordillera Vinos y Fuegos. Excellent both times. I don't have much to add beyond what other people have written here. Very good steaks, excellent service, nice decor. However, I'm giving the restaurant...3 stars instead of 5 for the following reason: I really don't like the "cava" concept that you find in some restaurants in Argentina. I.e. and e.g.: instead of giving you the wine list, Cordillera restaurant insists that you follow the waiter upstairs to their "cava." First, the cava at Cordillera is not in the least bit charming. It's basically a large closet. Second, and more importantly, in these situations, one always has the impression that the waiter is trying to upsell you. One is always lead to the very most expensive wines first. There is a certain pressure to purchase something above one's usual price point. I think if a restaurant has a remarkable cellar, it can be a very nice experience to be INVITED to visit. The sommelier can then walk the customer through different options and its possible to have an educational and interesting conversation about the wine. But this should always be an OPTION. I do not like it when I am forced to accompany the waiter (not even a sommelier). This has occurred at a few restaurants in Argentina, and I find it distinctly unpleasant. I came to the restaurant to have a nice quiet meal; if I wanted to go to an overpriced wine shop, I would have done that instead. So, that's my complaint. However, I certainly enjoyed everything else about the experience. The food, ambience, service are all 5's. Next time, just give me a wine list, preferably with a knowledgeable sommelier.More
