The service is slow and erratic, and the beef is mediocre at best. Everything is overpriced, and it is located right next to Mirasol, the best 400g ribeye steak of Buenos Aires. Piegari should stick to what they know best: pasta; they are world-class at that. The owner of this franchise is wasting his money away with this venture. They... More

This restaurant is well situated in a very safe area. The name of the restaurant fits well to the food you can get. Meat, meat and meat.. It is clearly the speciality there. I liked it but I expected the meat to be better. This place does not fit for vegetarian 😉

The ribeye steak here was brilliant, even though it was not the "premier" . Good vegetables too, especially the spinach. Good reasonably priced wine.

Piegari Carnes has a great and friendly staff. The food is amazing and the restaurant is very well located. If you wish to organized a group/evento dinner there, they have special menus with few options of starters, main course and dessert.

Wanting to treat myself to a good Argentine steak, I went to Piegari, described as Buenos Aires best by my hotel. The result was disappointing with an OK Rib Eye steak, mediocre French fries, an average Malbec (I had requested the best available by the glass), all that for an outrageous price. Paying the same price as in NY (80... More

In the Recova, across from Piegari Carne, is Piegari Pasta. Good place...for pasta ! The first course menu is varied, we had calamari, salads, but it is the pasta plates (and mainly the sauces !) what makes it a special Italian restaurant. The pasta dishes are "para compartir", that is, only someone extremely hungry can finish one dish, otherwise sufficient... More

Excellent service. Waiters were very attentive. Offered a glass of champagne while waiting for the food. Delicious bread. Had an Ojo de nice with grilled vegetables. The meat was delicious, the veggies, ok, with too much oil. Expensive, but worth every dime!

We went as a large group to this iTalian joint. The service was very attentive. We went for an escape from the massive meat eating everyday. We tried 4 types of risotto: black squid ink, seafood, mushroom and anther with shrimps. All were great and readily eaten. Wine was fine and the desserts were great, especially the panquque with dulce... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
