We were here for the Christmas Eve Dinner. It was an amazing experience. We had the 6 course set menu which was the only option on that day. It was comprehensive with excellent collection of Mendoza Malbec and Chardonnay on the house. They started off with a variety of cheese and cold cuts, followed by delicious empanadas, then they had mixed grilled vegetables and then an entire collection of steaks from the Pampa region. They did not ask how we wanted the steaks ( medium or medium rare) but did a good job. The dessert was the best..The only caveat is that they have only beef ( no lamb, chicken, pork, sausage, vegetarian ).. As for the prices, it was very pricey ( approx $453.00 for 2 adults, 1 kid ). As for the service,it was very friendly even though our servers spoke very little English. Cabernet is a more of a steak house than a Parrilla. It was surely very different from any steakhouse in the US. It is very slow paced, mellow music in the background on a very relaxed environment. The entire dinner was about 2-3 hours. Definitely worth the experience.

Perfect restaurant for a relaxed and quiet evening, perfect for a romantic date!
I have been to Cabernet many times during my business trips to Buenos Aires; I always return and never get disappointed. As appetizers I have tried Carpaccio and Mediterranean salad which have been both fantastic. The steaks are grilled to perfection, my latest rib eye selection was exquisite. Tenderloin entree with red wine reduction has also been one of my favorites, a great value at $20 USD partly because of the declining value of the Argentine Peso. The creme brulée is not to be missed, one of the best I had anywhere. The chocolate volcano has also been popular with my accompanying friends.
Aside from the great menu and food, the staff are very friendly, professional and non-intrusive, letting the customer take their time. I never feel rushed here, easily spending three-four hours slowly enjoying the meal, listening to the background music which is usually soft jazz, and sometimes classical guitar. The lighting is perfect, not too dark, but not bright either, with candles on the tables at night.
One restaurant that should be a part of any Buenos Aires stay!

A pleasure for me to review,
I found Cabernet while shopping in Palermo [great area in Buenos Aires] back in December 2007, when I was 10yrs old. [kidding]
I had just had lunch at a restaurant named Cluny [sadly now closed] and heading to wine shop my waiter told me about, when I spotted Cabernet, a building color not commonly used, walked to the corner, looked over their posted menu that read too good to be true, six hours later that nite, the posted menu did not do the food justice!
2007 was my first and last December in Buenos Aires, WOW it's HOT & Humid.
This past March 2019, I was back in BsAs [I think my 12th trip] and nite one, I was back dining at Cabernet, ordering their Pampas Grass-Fed Steak. I'm quasi vegetarian, and will go years without eating Red-Meat... but all that get's thrown out the window when I'm at Cabernet. The integrity and quality at Cabernet has never changed since I've been eating there, if anything its somehow gotten better these past dozen years.
Order a gorgeous bottle of Malbec and a beautiful steak [even you Vegan's] and if it's not raining ask for a table outside in the courtyard it's magical. Enough said.
Enjoy

I was excited to go here for our last night in BA and had researched on trip advisor the good reviews. I was very disappointed after having so many good steaks in small towns in Patagonian I expected this steak to be wow - the steak was supposed to be medium rare and was so tough I could literally barely cut it with a steak knife. The side order of fries was cold and the salad had so much oil we couldn’t eat it. When I complained (I almost never send food back) but given the price did so- another steak was sent out that was no better - I don’t know how you even do that to a good cut of meat. The restaurant offered a free dessert but the night was ruined by bad food. Most expensive meal we had in South America in 6 weeks of holidays and the most disappointing.

Not sure this justifies the reviews it has. Let down in two ways. 1) a large local group that meant the restaurant lay out changes ( 1 massive table in a line) taking away any class or intimacy to the restaurant. 2) a surly and incompetent waiter who could not even take and deliver a drinks order in 20 minutes of our arrival. Nice white table clothes but the sirloin steak medium was tough and chewy, very disappointing given Argentina’s reputation for steak. Wine choice options okay but overall this had no wow factor and I think given the abundance of great places nearby to this I would give it a swerve next time.

This spot was recommended to us by our hotel concierge and we were very pleased that he had done so.
Yamile was our server and she did a fantastic job.
Many in the group ordered steak. I had the ravioli dish which was very rich and satisfying. Six of us had a full dinner with beer and wine for only $115 US. Great value!

We were going to go for NYE and decided to check it out a couple of days before to be sure that we had a good NYE choice - we were glad that we chose to do this. The NYE was, as is often the case, a rip-off menu costing 10x the price for very limited menu and didn’t meet out dietary needs, so we cancelled our booking.
On the night when we checked it out and did stay to eat, we found it to be a bit above the standard of most restaurants in Buenos Aires, but not as high as some reviews might have led us to expect. Service was excellent and wines also. Food was very good, but not the best steaks or fish we’d had during our stay. We were outside which was pleasant, but maybe a little spruce up is needed to keep it as good outside as the pictures indicate. It was a rainy evening, so the outside is more romantic in other conditions, and the inside looked lovely and busy, which shows its popularity.
Recommended - but not for NYE. There are some better places to be found, though you’ll not have a bad meal here by any means.

Food
I ordered Fillet/Tenderloin steak - I am pretty sure I was actually served a different cut. The meat was not a tender as you would expect. My partner ordered Sirloin. He was very happy with his dish. Portions were very large. I ordered a side order of Spanish chips - not a good choice for me but someone else might really like them.
Wine
We ordered a La Linda Chardonnay, plus 2 glasses of Malbec to be served with the meat. All very nice
Service
It was relaxed but overall good.
Vibe
Lovely courtyard for outdoor dining. Unfortunately all tables were taken. We had to eat inside. Good air conditioning. Nice room

The food was amazing, the waitress yamile helpt me with the menu and advised me on the dish. The Service was great and the food was served super quick. Yamile my waitress spoke very good English, which is not common in most restaurants.

My sister and I found this little gem on a rainy Saturday after visiting the Plaza Serrano market. We were looking for something more quiet and with a lovely outdoor vibe. The menu was extensive, the service was great, and the ambience was peaceful with lovely music playing as we sat outside listening to the rain. The menu had a good variety of vegetarian options and lots of wine! Highly recommend.

We dined here at the suggestion of our hotel. It was lovely. First it’s in a great part of town, Palermo, which is lively. Second, the choice of food is good, the carnivores can indulge in an essential Argentine steak experience whilst it also caters well for non-meat eaters. There was a great choice of wine too. The food was well cooked and served at an appropriate pace. There is a choice of inside and outside eating. The service was good too.
All in all, an accessible authentic experience.

Friends and I went there last night during their special promotion for the 8pm seating. This restaurant is located in the heart of the vibrant neighborhood of Palermo where there is always something happening and people love to eat out! I had been there several times before so I knew I could expect delicious food in a pretty setting with good service. One of my friends is vegan so she was able to have grilled veggies and papas espanolas while I had the Patagonian trout and our other friend had the lamb. All dishes were excellent quality and very tasty. We enjoyed some red wine and one of us had the strudel with ice cream which was really good and a very generous portion. As a former chef and still a foodie, I can recommend Cabernet for fine dining.

Our steaks were terrible and when we complained to the waitress she walked off halfway through us telling her what was wrong. We asked to see the manager and when she didn’t come we stood up and walked to the main counter. The same waitress told us to go back to our table. When we did speak to the manager all she could offer us were free coffees or a pudding. The salads and grilled vegetables were good but the meat was inedible. The meal came to £90 which is a lot in this part of the world.

could be five stars except for the weird service and unexplained surcharge on the bill
steak was good, NY Strip was thinner than I expected, but the taste was fantastic. well seasoned and perfectly cooked. the grilled vegetable side dish was huge, easily enough for two people (but I demolished it haha). also ordered a grilled pear salad with generous hunks of blue cheese. also sharable sized, but I also ate the whole thing 😳
so the pear salad was listed as an appetizer. the food came out in this order: steak, side dish, salad. idk why. so I ended up eating the salad last, which was okay as a palate cleanser. had a excellent cappuccino which was more like a dessert
there was a surcharge added to the bill for "monthly service". it was only $2 (equivalent) but seemed a little odd at such a nice fine-dining locale.

Tasteless and overpriced.
The restaurant has a good location og cosy furniture. But ehen they take over 2000 pesos for a panang curry vegetarian, I expect some taste of curry. And the empanadas wee not good. The service was good.
