It was a wonderful night enjoying thai food, together with visitors from USA and Far East! The restaurant changed the name and now is "Kaffir Thai"'instead of " Empire Thai".

Besides being surly & in a bad mood, the people who run this restaurant have never heard of cilantro, chilies, lemongrass, fish sauce, tamarind, coconut or any other Thai ingredient. I wouldn´t even call their vile curries Asian. Yes, it´s true, the Pad Thai was italian spaghetti drowned in soy sauce. Are these people serious?

Total disappointment, expensive, and can’t even classify the food served. Whatever it was it was not even good. We had dinner outside after a business meeting, and were told to leave the briefcase with inside the restaurant as a precaution due to the number of thefts.

This restaurante is a fraud!! I ordered Pad Thai! the menu show rice noodles of course, and it came with spagetthis!! then I think the bill was not ok, they charged me more, and the bill wasn't discriminated so i was not able to check. Further more, no sweet thai chili! and the place has nothing to do with a... More

This people got it wrong. I was there twice (thinking that the first time, it was just pure bad luck that we got very mediocre dishes) and decided never to spend a dime in this place again. I don't know what they call "Thai Food" here but its certainly not Thai in my opinion Its just regular Chinese food that... More

the food is good, but the service is extremely bad. They put 12 peso service on your bill but we were wondering what the service exactly was about. Price on the bill was higher than on the menu, this was corrected after mentioning it.

Our welcome to Empire Thai was personal and enthusiastic. The owner, Kevin, is barman, waiter and social director all wrapped into one. He seems to know everyone in the place, and if you don't know anyone when you come in, you will before you leave. There is an excellent selection of Thai food, and you can get it in various... More

I have been twice to this restaurant. On the first visit, I gave the food the thumbs up - that's why I went a few months later on another trip to Buenos Aires.. very different. In fact indifferent was the feeling that trailed through a fairly miserable evening. The waitress was surly, if waitresses can be surly, and seemed more... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
