A fantastic feed with Meghan and Sophie

We discovered this 'closed door' restaurant when googling veggie restaurants in San Telmo. And what a great find. With a quick email we were booked in with 8 other folks for some tasty veggie food. Megan and Sofie are so great! The food was delicious, the company so much fun. Wine and laughs. Not to be missed. I'm not a vegetarian, but a delicious meal without meat is a nice change of pace in Buenos Aires.

I'm an expat living in buenos aires and I've been to jueves a la mesa twice, originally by the recommendation of some friends. The second time of course because of the quality of not just the food but also the experience as a whole. Although the vegetarian dining options are expanding in buenos aires, a city known for beef, high... More

We had a really great dinner here. I'd wanted to go to a closed door restaurant but our teenaged daughter is vegetarian and I wanted to make sure she was able to thoroughly enjoy the food. Meghan was in the US visiting family but assured us that Sofi and another cook, Ben, would take care of us. As it happened,... More

My husband and I went here twice during our visit to BA. We really enjoyed the whole experience. You feel like you are home, surrounded by friends, sitting around the table and enjoying really delicious food. The food was one of the best we've had in BA. It was all vegetarian and really flavorful and unique. It inspires me to... More

My husband and I had such a fun evening last month at Jueves a la Mesa. First we sat in a front room with our fellow diners, then we moved to the communal dining table for our vegetarian meal. We really enjoyed the conversation and evening with everyone. We even ran into some of our diners on two separate occasions... More

I am a US expat who just recently moved to BsAs. I went to dinner not knowing what to expect. I was more than pleasantly surprised! The guests were either expats or travelers. The conversation was rich and made the meal SO enjoyable. (A group of us went to have beers after the dinner because we were enjoying each other's... More

Thanks again to Meghan and Sophie for all of your hard work to create such a terrific meal and event!! It was a ton of fun talking to everyone, hearing others travel stories, sharing great food, and laughter. Events like this are what make traveling, life changing. Keep doing what you are doing!! I attended my first ever Puerta Cerrada on my last night in Buenos Aires. My one regret of the few weeks I spent there was not finding these earlier. Meghan was a wonderful host, welcoming from the moment I walked, solo, in the door. My apprehensions about going were probably exactly what you have: 1) Will I like the food?... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
