Being an Die Hard Foodie i thought i'd discovered all the best places to eat in the city and then i stumbled upon 'Jueves a la Mesa', a closed door vegetarian pop up. Run By Meghan and Sophie and each bringing there own energy and warmth this has to be one of the best dinning experiences i have had to... More

We had a really lovely evening at Jueves a la Mesa - a delicious and originally conceived meal by Meghan with every thought put into preparing and eating food with kind earth and sustainable philosophy. This didn't mean that the meal was less tasty - far from it - the Mexican themed food (Meghan takes inspiration from different global food... More

A lovely intimate experience with a warm welcome and hearty meal. Meghan is the sweetest and most perfect host. Meghan's ginger tea is a must-try (sorry Meghan, you might have to make it again!). We were lucky enough to celebrate Meghan's birthday, conveniently slicing into the fruit cake we brought along to the dinner! Hope to join again soon! -... More

Meals like this daily would make it easy to be a healthy vegetarian. Great atmosphere, hosts and company. If I were in Buenos Aires I'd like to come every week.

To be honest I dont really like vegetables so when a friend suggested that we go I was a bit nervous but the food was AMAZING!!! They really made everything taste super delicious! I went with 2 other friends but we had a lovely time chatting to everyone else at the table. A great evening!!

After hearing about Jueves a la mesa for so many years, I finally got it together to actually go last night. It was great. Fun people, great food (that you really don't see other places in the city) and it was nice to see the community that Meghan creates with her food and activities. If you are looking for a... More

The moment we walked into Jueves a la Mesa we knew we were in for a relaxing evening and interesting conversation with a group of guests that ranged from locals, to students, to travelers. We sat around a large coffee table before dinner and got to know one another. Then we were invited to gather around the dining table in... More

Would highly recommend for vegetarians looking to get the closed door dinner experience. Welcoming and friendly chefs and cool guests. The food was also very tasty.

Puertas Cerradas, or closed door restaurants have been a trend for years in Buenos Aires, and in my years in the city, I have been to my share of them. The different Puertas Cerradas can range between stuffy dinner clubs run by New York career chefs, to eating in a cramped Boedo apartment with improvised plasticware. Jueves a la Mesa... More

It was pure luck that we found out about this "closed door" restaurant, and that we happened to be in BA on a Thursday. The venue is intimate, located in the back of a bicycle rental/tour shop in San Telmo. Mehgan was our host and chef, with some assistance, and she could not have been more gracious, charming, and interesting.... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
