It is nice to walk around, grab a bite and drink some wine. People are dancing in the streets, they have many shops with different stuff and I would recommend staying out of the regular gift shops and come here, bring something special back!

By arriving in San Telmo one enters this unique atmosphere a way-back-machine taking you to the 60's with all authentic items decoration and landscape the Plaza is located in the heart of the scene & the tango music for street dancing (the first flash mob!) is the decoration and setting for a spontaneous event I almost forgot about food details... Just LOVED San Telmo plaza in the evening, tango dancers, loads of different places to eat, jugglers, bohemian atmosphere, lots of people selling all sorts of little bits and pieces but absolutely no pressure. Spent the whole evening there, had a wonderful meal from Drusila's but ate outside in the square, would highly recommend it as an Experience!

We love it at San Telmo Plaza. The San Telmo Lomo is great, the orange crepes for desserts are excellent, the eggplant entree a must and the waiter is a great guy.

The place is located in front of San Telmo´s square, with tables inside and outside. It has some really good pollo! Great place for lovers and trippers. Live music!

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
