We ate here last night and loved it... The service was fantastic and the food was 5 stars for quality and creativity. The wines were beautiful and matched nicely with the food. We didn't think it was expensive compared to back home and other places we ate at in BA that weren't anywhere near as good!

Two years ago we found El Baqueno while visiting Argentina. When we arrived, the owner unlocked the door then relocked it. For the rest of the evening, the 6 of us enjoyed a food and wine tour of Argentina. Each course and wine pairing was explained and the region associated. I have great dishes at other restaurants, but nothing to... More

We went to the El Baqueano because of several good ratings we have found on the internet. And the rankings were totally right, we had a very tasty experience. However, we went there for dinner and had the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairing. The service was very friendly and we got a warm welcome. First, they told us... More

El Baqueano is worth a visit. Their set menu is interesting and delicious (apparently, it changes often). The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. The service is attentive and well done.

Poor guys ... Had jackhammers next door (but we dined very early evening). Very Nuevo and taking risks! Well done! Whinging pretentious ***northern continent nationality withheld*** beside us complained about every course so choose wisely if you aren't a risk taker. We loved it and placed it equally with I Latino.

This was a very enjoyable restaurant. The chef is evidently passionate and skilled and the tasting menu was generous without being too much to each. A couple of courses were a bit similar, and not every combination worked 100% (very close though!) from a personal point of view but is was interesting and accomplished cooking and a very memorable and... You have to book but if you get it early (8PM), you don't have to eat during 3-4hours like told in other comments. We left the restaurant after 1h50, for 8 plates, that's pretty quick. The food was EXCELLENT, the wine and the advices about it too. There was molecular food, distructured food, and always with local ingredients. We REALLY... More

I had the best restaurant experience in El Baqueano while in Buenos Aires. Go for it if you like to experience Argentinian cousine with a touch of art and modern/contemporary food. they have 8 course menu for about 800 pesos/person plus the option of wine pairing. really recommend this restaurant, it is not cheap but definitely worth the price. Its... More

We wanted to try this restaurant after having read some good comments and about the native ingredients used for the meals. It was a good effort by the chef but the service was so quick that all 8 courses were served in around one hour. Food is ok, not bad and not exceptional, mostly blend. Good English spoken by the... What makes El Baqueano a great restaurant isn't just the concept (an 8-course tasting menu, all made from local flora and fauna that you wouldn't necessarily see anywhere else) but also the execution and the service. The meal itself was very good. The food, while not particularly creative in any way, was beautifully plated and tasted great. My only tiny... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighborhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighborhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
