Located in our neighborhood of Recetta, we ate here twice during our stay. I ordered steak both times. First time medium rare and it was a little over done but I didn't mind because the taste was out of this world. Second time I also ordered the ribeye, this time I stressed to the waiter I wanted it RARE. When... More

We were staying around the corner from this restaurant and found the quality excellent. Great wine selection and truly excellent food. We will return!

I am a regular at Melo and it is always a pleasure. Great food and wine at very reasonable prices. Dinner for two, sharing appetiser and desert, plus coffee and a bottle of wine cost usd 50, including tip. You should make a reservation in advance.

The menu is extensive, they have an English version available. We always share a salad (Big portions) a pasta, usually a ravioli dish, then an entre. I never see any tourists in here.

We loved the look of the restaurant and it was well attended by locals. However food was very poor. The spinach crepes came swimming in Alfredo sauce to the point that it looked like soup and the ravioli was strangely covered in barbecue sauce. The spaghetti bolognese appeared to have the same diluted barbecue sauce with small chunks of occasional... More

I found the food to be remarkably without flavor. The server was far from attentive. I don't speak spanish and he more or less demanded that I speak spanish as if saying "spanish please" was going to suddenly make me speak spanish. After that he would literally stand around to make me wait to take my order and then again... More

A great restaurant with good service that can be a bit difficult to get in without a reservation. Great beef and non-beef dishes, good service. By the time we left (haven't gone earlier than most Argentinians eat dinner), the place was packed, including many families with children. Interesting original art on the wall, some of it rather eclectic, added to... More

Happened to be walking by this establishment and a gentleman spoke to us in English when he heard us perusing the menu posted outside. He said very good food and very good prices. I wish I could buy him dinner now to thank him for the recommendation....as he was correct. Our waiter was kind and attentive. The meal (tenderloin/salad/ and... More

In the turistic neighbourhood of La Recoleta, in a small street, out of the usual itinaries, the Melo is offering classical cuisine, in a warn atmosphere, at very reasonable prices. It caters mainly to "locals", you will find very few turists, but you better make a reservation , especially for dinner, otherwise it is very unlikely you won't have a... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighborhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterized by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighborhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centered on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
