I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and the staff were great and very helpful. Each morning we had breakfast in the Bengal cafe, it was like walking into the dark ages and could not be more of a contrast from the hotel. You are first presented with a surly waiter who did smile or acknowledge you when you... More

Both sides are good, although I love really good indian food and go there for that, The majority of Indian restaurants in Buenos Aoires, are FUSION and nor really Hindu food. Bengal in really good. Go if you can

On our last night in Buenos Aires we decided to dine near our hotel and stumbled upon Bengal on Arenales. What a wonderful decision. It is a cozy neighborhood place with an extraordinarily welcoming staff which provided absolutely first rate service. The alternative of Indian or local cuisine was fun and I'm a sucker for an "amuse bouche". We recommend... More

Overall experience is good, very limited dishes for appetizer and main course. Ambiance is excellent, this may be one reason for high pricing of all the items. Vegetarian food (Dal Makhani) was excellent, however Samosa didn't have any taste.

Wonderful dining experience. My husband and I shared fish carpacccio as an appetizer followed by lamb curry and sea bass. Staff very friendly and helpful with suggestions. Small and intimate.

The food quality, ambiance, service is great. Hotel is located near to San Martin Plaza. I think the owner of the hotel is not from India but you get almost the same taste, which you get in most of the Indian restaurants. There are very limited menu items though.

Very good but limited selection for food and beverage (the only beer they had was Bud ... yeah my thoughts too) and the wine choices are slim too. A yummy fish pakora, Nan, Rice and a shot of sherbet are included. Strangely enough the other half of the menu is Italian. Make reservations.

I liked the place, the environment and the excellent service. However I did not like the food. I ordered Indian food. Although I asked for the maximum level of spice in curry I could not detect the slightest taste of anything spicy. Not even close to the taste of Indian food. As appetizer my wife asked some ricotta balls and... More

Great Chef, I have been here twice, but my experience is partial since I have been taken here by Indian visitors who have met the chef and always order a special menu for the table ... The part that doesn't rub well is that the Owner is not Indian and adds Italian dishes in the menu. Expensive, but good food.... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
