First night in Portugal went for dinner here with my wife as it was close to hotel. Big, old-fashioned, mixture of diners; a lot of locals which was a good sign. Staff all very professional & spoke good English. We had shellfish rice dish for 2 - but could easily feed 4 with it. Food was delicious & piping hot... More

Dont be put off by appearances! the restaurant looks like a school canteen with tables in rows and paper table cloths but the food is excellent and very reasonably priced. The service is also excellent and all staff very helpfull. We were the only English dining when we visited the busy restaurant the other diners were Portuguese families. We all... More

I have eaten here several times. It is a local restaurant, I love the clams, black pork, the fish, chopped tomato salad, never had a bad meal. It is not haute cuisine but good honest food. The staff are very efficient and polite.

We visit Algarve every year. My wife and I were invited with other guests for dinner by our friends. We had dishes of clams, small mackerel, lobster and rabbit with delicious wine. You can see fresh seafood in the restaurant. Everything was super. We were hesitant to eat rabbit meat first, but it tasted better than chicken. Seafood is highly... More

We had some marinated sardines (very yummy!) and the cataplana (the traditional sea food stew). Both dishes were excellent, but be aware that the mains are very big like usual in local portuguese restaurants. The cataplana was for two people, but could have easily fed three... Nice atmosphere with lots of locals coming by, but the restaurant itself is not... More

This was the meal highlight of our recent trip to the Olhao area of Portugal. Nothing to fault -- décor is fine, staff are very professional but also friendly, food is delicious and prices leave your wallet without a burning hole! There is slightly tight but covered parking, which was great for us as we were with our dogs. We... More

It is like a typical Portuguese with families having dunner on long tables that are brightly lit while tv's are showing live football matches. Food comes in simple servings with fries of potatoes, very basic. It lacks atmosphere so don't expect a romantic dinner :) The grilled salmon was great though, the Sirloin steak wasnt something we would recommend. The... More

I have eaten here before but that was about 15 years ago and can't really remember much about it (so it didn't leave a massive impression). O'Lagar is so close to where we were staying we ate there one evening. Eight of us on the terrace which was nice. It felt busy but with space. The inside does look and... More

Easy to find due north of Olhao, O'Lagar has masses of seating and super clean surroundings but this lends itself to a rather sterile and uninteresting restaurant. It could be a corporation restaurant anywhere in the world. There are many staff members and the service is quick and efficient. We could not fault the food though. Delicious lamb chops and... More

This large family-style restaurant in the country was recommended by friends and is a nice trip away from the city for typical Portugese fare. Very fresh fish & shellfish; the garlic shrimp was a nice starter. Fried eels & chips, roasted Cod, and fried pork were all really good. With the Roman ruins only a few km away, it was... More
