Bukhara make absolutely stunning curries. My wife and myself are curry addicts and try to visit Bukhara at least twice a year (it is 600km from where we live!) just for the sheer delight our tastebuds get from the exquisite flavours of their curries and the tasty Naan bread! This visit we were really surprised by how much the prices... More

Bukhara has great food and the best Tandoori wings. One of our highlights when visiting the Cape. Unfortunately they don't serve the full wings anymore and the restaurant menu has become very expensive. Great waiter. Unfortunately forgot his name. A student study hospitality.

Living in South Africa I have come to expect very good Indian food given the heritage in the country. I had the worst chicken vindaloo in my life at this restaurant. It basically tasted like ketchup with chilies. The food was way over priced for Indian food given the normal price for the food within the country. A curry and... More

I which too share my experience at Bukhara. Just too expensive. The quality of the food does not match the extrodanary expensive prices. R199 for a Rogan Josh (200 gram) R180 for a Beyerskloof Pinotage. By the way - you must pour your own wine. Not enough staff. Service poor. Food average. Ambience poor.

I didn't think Indian food was going to be my favorite of the trip to South Africa but I LOVED Bukhara. So much that we went twice in our week stay in Stellenbosch. Quality food, well seasoned.

With all the options available in Stellenbosch I would not recommend the restaurant. There is no ambience in the restaurant being dark with very little decor. The staff is not friendly and service was not good. If you love Indian food the options are limited and that is why we have always loved eating at the Franchise. The one in... More

The Chicken Tikka Lababdar came recommended by our waitress, who was most friendly. It was perfectly prepared and very tasty. The ambience of the restaurant was great, filled with young people and a quiet bustle.

Why are Indian restaurants is expensive? You buy meat, veggies and starch separate and each is almost the same price as a whole meal in other family restaurants! When the food arrive you even find portions to be smaller than aforementioned restaurants. In addition to my critique is that the food wasn't special. Comparing this meal to my Mumbai experience... Had been for lunch once before and was satisfied, today went back with the parents and baby in tow. Arrived at the restaurant in Winter, expecting to be greeted warmly. Walked in, to a freezing cold restaurant, air con blowing. When we asked them to put on the heater we were met with indifferent stares. We asked them to turn... More

Good food as usual from Bukhara. The restaurant was fairly busy. This is testament to good food. Sharing meals helps in bringing down the average cost per person as meals are generally highly priced.
