This is certainly one of the most beautifully located restaurants, and you can eat anything from the sea here very well. Five years ago, we were last here, and nothing has changed. Interesting menu, wine list ditto. We had a "special", Seafood Platter for 2 with a glass of Chenin Blanc each for ZAR 399, which was definitely worth it. The oysters in advance were also very delicious, the half dozen small ones for ZAR 114. Always happy to come back!!

What a find! The location, the food and the service were just perfect. An incredibly reasonably priced Oyster experience to start, followed by some delicious Cape Salmon, (for all the Brits reading this, Cape Salmon is nothing like the UK/Scottish variety) and to finish, a "to die for" trio of ice cream, berry compote and oozy chocolate fondant. Absolutely divine! Nomvelasi, our waitress was attentive, friendly and so very helpful. I highly recommend Sirocco.

What a wonderful setting! A friend of mine who had been there before recommended this place & it did not disappoint!
The food and drinks were great. My daiquiri was refreshing. Sam, our waiter was most attentive and friendly. The staff were helpful. The sushi I ordered was delicious and my friend’s oysters were fresh & tasty. There was a function on upstairs so sadly we could not sit up top outside but we still had a great view below! Will definitely be back next time we go to Knysna!

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel and the experience was catastrophic. We waited 1 hour 15 minutes for a dish (seafood plate) in which there were more fries (not cooked) and rice than seafood. The waiter was very sorry and offered us our glass of wine. Small consolation... the contents of the dish really need to be reviewed. This is unusual in this country where we had a good dinner everywhere we went.

Very average. We expected much more from a place regarded as a prime restaurant in Knysna.
Service very good but:
-Salmon tartar tasteless, bread served with it rock hard /old.
-Fish overcooked
-Croutons of Cesar salad rock hard / overcooked
Better to drive 35 mins to the Girls on the Square in Wilderness

Congratulations… our experience was so poor that you trigger me to waste my time with a review ! Expectations high based on a good dining experience a few years ago - clearly standards have changed, for the worse! Actually, to be fair our waitress’s service was excellent and starters (sushi, salmon tartare, kalamari and salad) were good. Main meals were REALLY poor …. line fish (kob) cuts that were pathetically thin / poor quality and all 3 overcooked and dry. How can anyone destroy Kob that successfully?! Carbonara that had more croutons than ham… in fact ‘hunt the ham’ became the diners theme…why on earth would you attempt to sub out ham with fried bread ?! We had 9pm reservation and either the kitchen was running low on stock, and thought it would be acceptable to present substandard servings out of (1) arrogance (2) laziness (3) in the hope of meek acceptance or (4) the business formula to squeeze profit means this restaurant disrespects totally customers desire of at least a half decent meal to match the pricing. Manager out of their depth in dealing with feedback for me points to the latter. Avoid if you can.

Dreadful, disinterested manager, sat inside fraternising with staff instead of asking customers how they were finding their experience. One of our dishes was cold in the centre but tte dish was hot, classic microwave reheating … our waitress didn’t seem to understand how to take an order as the food came at random times! Seriously, don’t bother!

This restaurant is a highlight in Knysnia! This was our third try to find a good restaurant in Knysnia and this time it was a hit! It was a Sunday and Sundays they have Sushi for half the price and therefore it was extremely busy - my guess. We had the ocean oysters as an appetizer and because they were excellent we ordered a second dozen to cover the waiting time for our Sushi platter and enjoyed them very much! The Nigiri/Sashimi platter was also very fresh and tasty and the additional salmon poke was nearly Hawaain quality. The icing on the cake was our waitress Kuko, very attentive and always looking after us. For us the best of the restaurants we tried in Knysnia.

We had been to sirocco on our trip 2 years ago. This time it felt extremely busy and the service was not the same-alnost business like, not the service with a smile we were expecting.
Having a later evening booking, by 9.45pm, we felt the waitress couldn't put the bill on our table quick enough.
The food and wine were good. The noise levels high-to be expected for a Saturday.evening.
We also had booked in for Sunday evening, that was a much better experience -less noisy-still good food and wine.Waitreas served us with a smile.
The food menu is vast and the wine menu covers everything you could want.

Shocking slow service and the food was raw. I ordered calamari and that was fine but my family ordered kingklip and after waiting 30 mins it was still raw. It took another 20 minutes for a new plate to arrive of half a portion of kingklip but by this time, our meal was spoiled as we were eating in drops-and-drabs. We live in Knysna and will not not recommend this restaurant to either locals or tourists. Unfortunately!

We had a fantastic evening at Sirocco in Knysna. The menu offers a great variety, and the quality of the meat used for the steaks was outstanding – perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
Our waitress, Natacia, provided excellent service, making us feel welcome and giving great recommendations. Her attentiveness added to the overall experience. If you're looking for great food and warm, professional service, Sirocco is a must-visit!

We were looking for Dinner after a sunset boat cruise and got this recommendation from our Skipper as the best place for fresh oysters and fish.
The Knysna Coastal Oysters were excellent.
What was amazing was the wine selection of different varieties you could have by glass - for sure +40 options.
What impressed us the most was our waitress Yamkela. She was very attentive and we really enjoyed her service.

A very nice restaurant and great location. We had excellent service from the waiter and the food was good. The value for money is another issue. The prices were very high and was surprised at some of the prices, especially the FOCACIA, and the size of it - it was much smaller than the average siozed foacaia. I believe thatthis restaurant caters for Euro and Dollar based guests, as the prices are very high for South Africans. Although a good experience, I do believe that other restaurants in Knysna offer much more better value for money.

We come to Sirocco at least 3 or 4 times every year. Nicely located on the harbor of Thesen Island. And excellent food plus hospitable service. Also today: the Sea bass and the Paella were delicious. But the bill came with a strange surprise: unlike all previous times, a very generous tip had already been pre-filled. Nowhere on the menu or elsewhere is it stated that a certain percentage tip is required. The waiter had a completely incomprehensible story. We did pay so as not to ruin the fun evening. But I hope this doesn't become a habit!

Excellent seafood! Wines were stellar— extensive wine list from notable Cape wineries. Sauvignon Blanc from Nederberg had vibrant citrus acidity with a surprising undercurrent of creamy notes that added structure, complexity, and a silky mouthfeel. The Chardonnay from Boschendal had a little more weight, which completed the main course perfectly. The coastal oysters were absolutely delicious— some of the most nuanced, balanced, and flavorful we’ve ever had anywhere in the world, (but a little gritty— could use an extra rinse, and we had to pry them loose from the adductor muscle that still connected “the meat” to the shell… some places have the oyster shuckers pry entire meat of the oyster loose from the shell and leave the oyster lying on top of the shell, for presentation, and an easy “slurp” with a toss of the head backwards).
The line fish of the day was perfectly cooked and seasoned just enough to accent but not overpower the delicate flavor of the fish. The grilled calamari was sooooo tender and flavorful. The queen prawns were also cooked just right—- just firm enough to give a satisfying crunch after easily shelling them yet still quite moist and so flavorful, with a delicate taste of the sea that stimulated and lingered pleasantly on the palate. Even the rice was flavorful, just firm enough, tender without being soggy, and boasting a warm tumeric yellow color. Our night at this big restaurant was bustling with activity… every table filled, and a bounty of servers shuffling past each table, ready to scoop up an empty plate, promptly replace silverware and moist towelettes for the next course… all the while communicating with their staff mates in a way that seemed endearingly sisterly or brotherly.
Lastly, but not leastly— our server Natacia— was friendly, very helpful in guiding our menu choices, very prompt with bringing drinks once ordered, and communicated well with regard to the order of the courses that followed after ordering. She was so deeply appreciative of our gratuity, which I hope all customers extend generously, if their service and quality of food was anywhere near the level that we experienced on our 1 night stay in Kynysna. Natacia, and this restaurant, left a very favorable and lasting impression on us. Thank you so much!!
