Firstly......Africa Café is an experience ! the food is superb!. Do not have anything after the breakfast before visiting........... It was recommended we try and we were not disappointed , the set menu for The Feast is we can only say some of the finest African cuisine you can sample, it keeps coming its like a marathon, you are bombarded... Yes this place is for tourists, but they do it so well you cannot fail to enjoy it. The restaurant is split into a number of smaller rooms on two levels, each one decorated based on a region of Africa. There is one fixed menu, with multiple small dishes spread over a few courses. It provides flavours from many different... More

We visited Africa Cafe by chance on a google search when visitors from overseas wanted a local dining experience and I must say it was an absolute treat! Being local we don't really think about eating African food often but this experience has definitely changed that. The food was absolutely incredible! The atmosphere and decor are perfect for the type... More

This is definitely a fun and different dining experience that's worth doing. Yes, of course it's aimed at tourists, but it's tastefully done and the friendly staff are committed to making sure guests enjoy themselves. (They can also really sing.) In all honesty we have had far better meals in Cape Town for the money - some of the starter... More

Dining there is an unforgettable experience! Absolutely good value for money. The 16 course menu was delicious and one had the opportunity to taste specialities from different countries. It was more than enough. Singing and dancing by staff was very entertaining. All rooms are individually decorated, this itself was an experience!

My husband and I have just returned from dinner at the Africa cafe. Having been recommended we visit by a friend we booked a table. Upon arrival we were greeted amazingly, but it was downhill from there. The service was average, food was greasy and worst of all, you aren't told how much the food will be until you're given... Came to the Africa Cafe on our last night in Cape Town. Quite touristy but that makes it so wonderful. The food is absolutely delicious and has tons of vegetarian options, which isn't easy to come by in some foreign countries. A performance and face painter came by during dinner, which I loved.

Yes it seems touristy with the song-and-dance of the wait staff and their costumes, but it's still worth it if you're looking for a quality selection of cuisines from all over the African continent. Everything is small plate/tapas but you can repeat any of the dishes---they're actually surprised if you don't ask for seconds. It is also an institution that... More
