An atypical place in the township of Longa, in a rather “soft” neighborhood. An incredible welcome (you will be picked up as soon as you arrive by car to park), South African cuisine like at home, delicious, copious and authentic, a group of passionate musicians, a unique experience. A word of advice, go there without hesitation, but remember to book, either by phone or via WhatsApp, or both 😉. Few place settings (this is also part of its charm), places are limited!

We were there almost for a private dinner, they opened on a wednesday evening for us 7, and even the musicians came to play! The slogan is: ‚share mama‘s love‘ and that is exactly what we experienced. The food, the music, the story, everything feels real and is like visiting family . Definitely a highlight of our holiday!

Brilliant entertainment, excellent food, wonderful family and totally safe! In all the restaurants we visited in Cape Town, this was by far the best, home cooked, tasty and good service. What an experience !

It was a huge disappointment. Two things that were nice... were the entertainment where we could also join in and a short walk on the same street because it wouldn't have been safe for us without a local person. Maznsi advertises itself as a non-tourist place but unfortunately it is! The dinner itself is very short and considering that, very expensive! Many Watefront and Camps Bay restaurants are cheaper with more food and wine! The dinner itself only lasts 1.5 hours. Additionally, when I received the bill, I had to prove that I had paid for the entire dinner a month in advance! The place should have known this information! In addition, our entire group (seven people) got a very bad stomach virus! I can't recommend this experience enough!

More authentic it won't be! I have eaten at Manzi 3 times and loved all three times! The first time I was a little nervous about the safety because the restaurant is located in a township - but Mbasa has control of the security and can help with safe transport to and from the city. -Better Xhosa meal you won't get - the chefs are "Mamas from Langa" and the music is local marimbusicists. They say it's your home while you're there - and that's how it feels!

Absolutely recommend anyone who's visiting Cape Town to stop by Mzansi 45, you will not get this experience anywhere else. The family really welcomes you into their home and you leave feeling nurtured, fed and enriched with historical information about the area and the family's roots in their community. Not to mention the great home cooked food.

We visited Mzansi in October 2022 with our 2 adult children on the basis of recommendation from a friend of my sons. It is a little outside the centre of Cape Town in a less 'fancy' area but the cab ride was not expensive. Buffet style food was fantastic, so much choice for us and our vegan son and staff super friendly and informative. We were given an intro to the history of the restaurant and the area and had a chance to chat to the guy who was looking after us. We had a great time and cant recommend highly enough for something different and very high quality food.

Fun experience with a terrific live band and friendly hosts. The food was delicious but didn't seem special or unique to South Africa. We wish the talk by the host had been less about the business history of Mzansi and more about the Langa neighborhood and Cape Town. Also note, the bill includes a charge for the band (in addition to the basket they passed around for tips it.)

Having been raised in Kenya, we wanted our children, born and raised in the USA, to experience a complete African dining vibe. The food was mediocre at best, kept buffet style without any chafers, and the style and preparation were catered more toward the tourist pallette. However, the service and hospitality of the hosts were outstanding. It was Christmas day, and the band with their festive mood and music were a special delight. Overall, it was a great experience reminiscent of the childhood spent on a wonderful land with a hospitable people. Please visit, if food is not a huge issue, it was not for us.

We went for dinner, 4 of us and were blown away. Not only did they open up just for us (they only open with minimum 6 people), they cooked the most amazing food, spoke with us, talked to us about the area (Langa) and just made the evening wonderful. The view from the restaurant is also absolutely stunning. A truly South African resultant and an absolute MUST for anyone visiting Cape Town.

The food, service, and staff were so authentic and wonderful examples of South African cuisine. This is located inside one of Cape Town's largest townships of Langa. The restaurant is located in the front part of a home and truly the food and staff are incredible experiences. If you are a foreign traveler, don't miss an opportunity to have a Guide take you to tour the townships and eat at Mzansi which is right in the middle of Langa Township. You may feel intimidated or perhaps fearful going to the townships.......don't miss this part of your trip!

Enjoy a dining experience basically in the owner's (converted) home with recipes by his own mother. World-class music performance from a local band which makes the rooms shake. Needless to say the food was exceptional and home-made. You might sit next to strangers but it still feels natural and the atmosphere is amazing. There is also a storytelling part to end the experience telling you about the restaurant's beginnings. If you feel anxious about the location (Langa) - please don't. It's one of the safest townships. We were there for dinner and the streets were mostly full of children playing and dancing. Our Uber dropped us off at the entrance where we were greeted and seated. On the way out, they also escorted us to the Uber and made sure the drivers had a place to park while waiting. Truly a unique restaurant experience that we are unlikely to see anywhere else on Earth.

The food and service at Mzansi was phenomenal! We were in Langa for a charity bike ride with the Langa Bicycle Hub (highly recommend as well!) and came here for lunch after. Right away we felt like we were being greeted and treated like family. The afternoon was spent enjoying great food, laughs, and conversation. My friends and I often go to 'fine' dining restaurants when visiting cities and this blew almost all the food we have had here out of the water. The space isn't fancy, but it is extremely homey and well decorated and the food isn't over sauced like most places. We didn't have a chance to enjoy the music due to lockdown restrictions but we will be back with more of our friends in the future!

Ya’ll when I tell you this was one of the best dinner experiences of my life! The food was amazing, the drinks were great, it was super intimate and felt like going over your grandmas house for dinner!! AND the live band was everything! At the end of the night, we all did a dance passed down and it was amazing! Would definitely recommend!!

I enjoyed my time at Mzansi. They make you feel at home and have excellent authentic food. Being from America I felt it was a great way to get to try an assortment of different South African dishes. My favorite was the malva pudding.
