Enjoyable place to stop for a quick coffee. Had the feel of a post apocalyptic movie set. It was worth the visit.
We went to Truth for coffee and a snack on the weekend after hearing good things about it. We had a thoroughly underwhelming experience. It took ages to be served and the staff were not welcoming at all. My girlfriend got a coffee which she...described as not bad, not great - quite disappointing at such a famous coffee place. I got a 'minimalist hot chocolate' where the minimalist part must've referred to the minimal amount of taste. It tasted like nothing and I was shocked that they somehow managed to mess up hot chocolate. However, we did have two very good pastries, a custard Danish and almond croissant. That said, these were incredibly expensive. R50 for an almond croissant is rather obscene and the whole menu is incredibly expensive, especially for the quality on offer.More
Thank you for taking the time to let us know - slow service and unwelcoming staff are definitely not acceptable. I am taking this up with the team urgently. We have a number of coffee options available and once again we let you down -...More
This was a great coffee spot with an interesting vibe. The food was unique and very good. Service was great.
Someone recommended it, so off we went. Interesting decor and outfits of staff and all. But nothing else really. Coffee was no better than average. Cartot cake looked nice but too sweet. Disappointed ...
Like many people we saw this on tv and decided to visit. The coffee was nice but I’ve had nicer coffee and I can’t say it was memorable. The decoration on the milk of the latte / flat white is a nice touch. The food...was delicious - we had the avo on toast and the steampunk Benedict. The portions were decent and the bread was very tasty, and all the avo etc was fresh and well prepared and seasoned. We also had a fresh custard danish which was superb. The service was below average though. None of the staff seemed overjoyed to be there, and were not overly helpful. Their costumes are a nice touch but the staff are all doing the bare minimum without any smiles or happiness. The waiter brought the wrong coffees and gave a milk coffee to someone who ordered a coconut milk. The coffees arrived quickly but the food took ages. Then we ordered water for the table which didn’t arrive until long after we finished eating. Overall we enjoyed the experience, but the coffee didn’t live up to expectation or the hype. I think the marketing, decor and the “story” is great but really its overrated and I wouldn’t bother going back when there are so many other nice places with friendlier staff, better service, just as good coffee and food and cheaper too.More
Thank you for taking the time to visit us. Ordinarily we never excuse poor service but on the particular day in question our staff were literally in mourning. We had just heard of the senseless shooting and murder of one of our very dear colleagues...More
The coffee just amazing and the baked items are right on and the interior is very lovely. Tye service was really good in this place
My wife had seen this coffee shop on tv and had wanted to visit, so we made sure to stop when we were in the city. It is a trendy, hipster, steam-punk kind of place that does have an extensive menu. Not only coffee, but...a variety of baked goods and light food options. We ordered coffees and snacks. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the cafe was clean and well run. We felt comfortable here as we relaxed with our drinks. We ordered somewhat more exotic coffee creations, and they were both... ok. If you're visiting the area Truth may be worth a stop, but it came off more as gimmicky and less of a place people go to for good coffee.More
We’re on holiday in Cale Town and came to try the famous coffee which certainly did not disappoint! To add something for breakfast, we got a chocolate-almond croissant. And let me tell you, we’ve all had a million croissants in our lifetime, but this one...stood out on top of them all. Absolutely amazing. My son is an extremely picky eater, which always makes it a little stressful to eat outside of the standard chains, but he also loved the food and opted for seconds! We’re definitely coming back!!More
Underwhelming experience. The coffe was okay but the pastries were not good. We tried cheesecake, apple tart and brownie. The brownie was okay.
We recently visited Cape Town and Truth coffee quickly became our favourite coffee and brunch spot, with us stopping here most days. Cannot fault the coffee, food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend.
I was drawn to this with its great rating on TA and it being voted the best coffee house in the world for 2 years running by a British newspaper - the Daily Telegraph. You can get the vibe as soon as you walk in...with a warm greeting by a waitress. The building is lovely with the industrial look that both my wife and I like. The coffee was not the driver for me- dare I say, instant Nescafé gold blend is good enough for me- I am a bit of a pleb! I waitress was really helpful helping us to choose a coffee and we bought a carrot cake and apple pie. The coffee was good but the desserts were simply sensational especially the carrot cake which was the best I have ever had. It certainly was an experience and would recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Town looking for a break from sightseeing.More
Huge let down. From the welcome at Main reception. Group booking beforehand. Waited 45 minutes for coffee, came in drips and drabs. So called signature croissants. Overpriced, poor service. Waste of money. Very average. Cape Town has much better on offer.More
I am so sorry to read about your poor experience. This is certainly unacceptable - please accept my sincere apologies. Unfortunately in summer season times the cafe is extremely busy and despite having 3 baristas on duty and adding extra staff, we do get swamped....More
It has been on the Bucket list and so worth it. Great ambiance & decor. Our waitress was lovely & helpful explaining the coffee types & menu. Cuppacino foam art was amazing!
