Don't believe the hype, folks. The inside is kitschy and the service is really quite poor. Our food arrived less than 10 minutes after we ordered it, which didn't even give us enough time to make a dent in our bottle of wine. The food...More

"I booked Bombay a few months in advance as a couple of years back on a previous trip I was told it was a 'must visit' in Cape Town. Unfortunately when I brought my friends here we all left really disappointed. Whoever was making the...More

Even though it is filled with old stuff it has a magical feel to it. The tables are a bit small so one feel a bit cramped. The food is way too expensive, average in taste and one can have most of the menu elsewhere...More

It looks, and is, very quirky which was part of the appeal. But food and service, while ok, weren’t anything special.

Nice atmosphere inside, kind waiters. Food(chicken and pita dish) was good, everything seemed reasonably priced.

Really great restaurant but more of a destination. A cross between a grandmother’s attic, hoarder, and bordello vibe but it truly truly works. Chili Chocolate steak is the best! Great service and so laid back. Great vegan options too

Very Nice and populair restaurant, so reservation is recommended. The food was excellent! You have to like the loud music.

Only came here for drinks so cannot comment on the food. Cocktails are very good! They have some different variations on the menu which at first glance you think will not work but they do. Edson served us and was the most friendly barman! Would...More

The service and atmosphere at Bombay Bicycle Club is great, very friendly and good service. The food was fantastic too, the starter was new to me and a good size portion, the Main of King Klip was just as good, I was a little let...More

No, this is the kind of place where anything goes. The servers sometimes dress up in costumes. This is a wild bohemian kind of atmosphere, so if you have some unique piece of clothing collecting dust in the closet, pull it... More

All prices in South Africa are really a bargain for US travellers due to the exchange rate. The average meal in a place like the Bombay incl starter, meal, dessert and a few drinks will cost about $25.00

Description
Welcome to The Bombay Bicycle Club, Cape Town’s wonderfully wacky bohemian love den at the top of the hill, where everything is possible and always ensues. Headed up by Madame Zingara, The Bombay is a representation of our colourful history and an expression of our eclectic past; a venue where you are encouraged to let your hair down and expected to stay up way past your bed time. The menu is a collection of all-time favourites that have enchanted our diners for many years, complemented by an ever-changing collection of specials which embrace our local borough traders and keep even the most jaded palate amused. As The Bombay represents our past, so The Sidewalk Cafe symbolizes the new. One for the wild and hedonistic, and one for the gentle soul – the yin and yang of Madame Zingara.
