Having just flown in on an all-night flight with no sleep, we decided to take a gentle stroll round the waterfront area. Not feeling too hungry but needing a light lunch we decided to try Karibu and sample some African food. It was a good choice. Great views from our table and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Staff were extremely helpful as... More

We are here twice during our stay the second time because some friends also said they had a good meal so we decided to revisit. This time with 12 of us. I had the chicken wrapped in ostrich carpaccio others had various meals, beef curry ostrich steak, all were delicious. I had the putu and chakalaka as I'd enjoyed it... More

We went there to eat and experience the local cuisine. Great selection of wines. Starters and main dish were all very good but creme brulee for dessert was average (too thick caramel layer + the main content was poor). We had to wait a long time for the dessert, too (it's probably it got really crowdy meanwhile). Service was really... More

We didnt have a nice time, the guy who seemed in charge wasn't very friendly, the staff seemed stressed by him,the sirloin steak I had was full of fat and grizzle. The worst meal we had in South Africa and the most expensive.Supposed an African restaurant, my partner was brought up in Africa and she said it was very fake.

Everything here is done quite well but the portions are small, expect average over all but worth a try!

If you wish to try South Africa cuisine, the Karibu is the restaurant to visit. Karibu means "welcome" in Swahili. There is a cheaper set menu available at lunchtime only (about GBP15 Feb 2017). I had a starter of Fynbos salad - rocket leaves and pumpkin seeds with a Fynbos dressing and parmesan cheese. I thought that it was average.... More

We wanted to have African food on our last day and tried the Karibu Restaurtant. The meals were fish and lamb and washed down with a bottle of wine. The food arrived hot and although not plentiful compared to other servings we have received at other restaurants, it was very tasty. It was quite quiet at the time we arrived... More

We have just returned from an amazing holiday touring South Africa during which time we spent a few nights in Cape Town, where there are many restaurants to choose from. We stayed at the Table Bay hotel and one night, because it was chilly we decided to stay very close by, so we went to Karibu. We were so pleased... More

We chose this restaurant because it claims "South African dining" and when we passed by, it always looked busy. I had ostrich, served with chips and sweet onion marmalade. It was well cooked and tasty. My wife had V & A chicken, stuffed with pesto and wrapped in ostrich carpaccio. It came with three small circles of potato, about 20mm... More
