TruThis is a truly authentic, rustic Italian cuisine in the traditional family own restaurant style where service is second to none and the food is clean, well prepared and excellent price point for Cape Town standards.

I prefer not to complain, but I think others deserve to not waste their time and money. An absolute disappointment and rip off. This restaurant is a great candidate for Gordon Ramsey's "Kitchen Nightmares". Here's why: 1. 50 minute wait (despite a somewhat empty place...More

The restaurant was opened in 1971 and still is run by the same Italian family. Fantastic experience, spacious place, home alike atmosphere. Food is perfect, portions are large and served very fast. Friendly and well trained staff. Highly recommended

Loved the food, went back a second time because they took such good care of us. They even made a new kind of pizza, just for me. The desserts are divine. Daniel, the waiter, was delightful and funny. Great place to visit.

Waiter (after telling us how wrong we were about drink order) suggested wine. We ordered. He came back with "we don't have that wine". Ordered ravioli got tortolini. ordered fish and pasta and got fish and vegetables. Lackluster and loud American 80s music blaring during...More

Description
In existence for over 30 years, Mario's is one of the oldest restaurants in Cape Town and was opened by Mario and Pina Marzagalli in 1971. For the past 12 years Pina has been at the helm, and runs the restaurant with the assistance of her two children Marilena and Marco. Pina, with her vivacious personality and great charm has built up a loyal following of customers and the walls of the restaurant bear witness to this, as every available space is covered with names and comments from satisfied customers over the past 30 years.
