The restaurant was really busy with people enjoying a drink in the glorious South African sunshine or enjoying the food selection from the buffet. The staff are friendly and explained what the dishes on offer were, it was a good chance to try something you may not have ordered.

Just after an intense tour of the Hector Pieterson museum, we headed out to Vilakazi St. where Mandela's House is, the atmosphere was so vibrant and enriched with culture. They are so many restaurants on that street but somehow Sakhumzi caught our eye. It is the only restaurant that doesn't have such a modern and polished feel unlike the others... More

All u get is stews and grills. Some overpriced stuff here. Pass by. Moreover for dollars and pounds if you have them. Not for locals. Really over rated.

We took some Norwegian tourinst to the Nelson Mandela and the Hector Petersen Memorial and then went to Sakhumzi. The service was not that great but I have to say they were very busy. The food was very good and a huge improvement to the last time we went there.

We had the buffet lunch at Sakhumzi while in the Soweto area touring other points of interest. The lunch was buffet meal with options that included salads, meat, vegetables along with desserts. The meal is reasonable priced and there were a variety of African dishes you could try. We ate upstairs on the balcony which gives a charming view of... More

We were on a tour through Soweto that included lunch buffet at Sakhumzi. Very good, considering the location. While the restaurant, dining area, buffet area, restaurants, etc. are all to much lower standard than expected in Jo'burg areas like Sandton, the meal was good and as expected featured many local item.
