La Pentola lists with the old favourite Restaurants like Caponero,La Provence and the basic good Pretoria Restaurants of yesteryear. Hubby and I had a leisure saturday afternoon and drove passed La Pentola. We agreed to have a laid back lunch at the gourmet Bistro. It was really a lazy afternoon and waiting for our meals took an eternity. The friendly chef and... More

For so long I have been looking forward to experience the food at La Pentola. Friday this event happened. Arriving at the restaurant was welcoming and pleasant. Sitting down at the table with fabric table cloths was good, but then the rest was just such a disapointment. What was I looking forward to I wonder? I will most certainly not... More

We booked on the website for dinner to celebrate our anniversary in early July and traveled there by Uber to ensure we could enjoy our drinks. A romantic table for 2 was reserved for us and the aperitif on offer was just great. The food was masterfully done; we couldn't resist going through 3 courses and in all 6 cases... More

When visiting a restaurant surely the food and company must be top of list as far as priorities go. Here you'll get a range fantastic fine dining options and, though somewhat dated, the ambiance definatly allows you to fully enjoy the company of your friend. Combine this with good service and friendly staff and you won't go wrong.

I hadn't been to La Pentola for more than 10 years, and after this meal, I probably won't be back again. It's not that there was anything hugely wrong: it just seemed tired. The food was okay, without any dish really blowing us away. The Bistecca Quattro Formaggi was a very nice beef pie - for R135, it needed to... More

La Pentola is our all time favourite restaurant in Pretoria. We love the good food at reasonable prices and the relaxed atmosphere. We had Father's day lunch and unfortunately we were a little disappointed. We loved the starters. Butternut soup was very good as was the lamb kidneys in fillo. The haloumi was a bit rubbery. For mains we chose... More

As a self-confessed foodie we often find the best restaurants are a bit formal and "uptight". NOT SO at La Pentola. Amazing food, great service, amazing food, relaxed setting, amazing food, wonderful wine...and did we mention the amazing food? Snails wrapped in bacon? Yes please. See you again as soon as we can.

We chose la Pentola for a venue to celebrate the completion of a large project at work. They were willing to accommodate 43 people and prepared a set menu with 3 courses for us. Starters were served Buffett style on the tables. Mussels, chicken livers, hot bread with salmon pate and a green salad was fantastic. Mains included 5 choices.... More

Mario (the chef) is a legend in my book. He genuinely knows how to cook ostrich 'rare' as opposed to medium-rare, or under-cooked (so often restaurants have cooks, not chefs, and there is a big difference). The food is cooked fresh (made to order, so if you require an ingrediant left out, such as chilli peppers, this can be achieved).... More
