Re-visiting this restaurant was a superb choice to start this season of Restaurant Week. Our evening was filled with excellent, friendly service and brilliant food, while a live band played smooth jazz suiting everyone’s taste.
With their new menu being launched we were treated with new selections for our visit.
For starters we shared a Delicate Seafood Roulade and Chicken Liver Rillettes
The Rillettes (rillettes - French word for a meat spread), which was made from chicken livers and thighs and pan seared, was creamy and very tasty. This was topped with caramelized onions which perfectly complemented the richness of the rillettes and accompanied by caramelized figs and toasted bread.
The Roulade, which was wrapped in poached zucchini strips, was equally tasty and delicious. This was topped with some caviar and a dash of seafood bisque and chili oil. All flavours combining to perfectly to enhance the seafood experience.
For mains we had their Lamb Shoulder and the Line fish.
The lamb shoulder, having been braised and rolled with onion and garlic was tender and soft, and perfectly paired with a thyme jus lusciously lathered over it. This was served with a wild mushroom risotto, topped with parmesan chips, and could easily have been a meal on its own. Freshly prepared, and packed with flavour, with pockets of parmesan bursting though.
The line fish was equally well prepared, being firm and juicy it was covered with a beautifully delicate baby prawn Normandy sauce and served on top of pea and feta couscous. This was served with roasted green beans / sugar snaps and a dash of pea puree.
For deserts we shared their Tipsy Tiramisu Twist and Pina Colada Panna Cotta.
The tiramisu which consisted of a light combination of coffee and Kahlua was served with a divine Frangelico ice cream served on top of shortbread crumble, fresh mint, and grapes.
The panna cotta, moulded on pineapple jelly, was topped with a strawberry and apple compote and served with mango puree and lime curd, along with homemade nougat ice cream.
Both deserts were a perfect end to our meal, serving some lite sweetness and lots of flavour.
All the staff, including the waiters and all managers on duty ensured that all the patrons evening was perfection.

As with our first visit, we were warmly greeted and made to feel at home by all the friendly and attentive waiters, sommeliers and Managers making sure that we are well looked after.
For our Hors d'oeuvres we selected their Springbok Carpaccio & Pear & Goats Cheese Tart.
The Carpaccio was divine, being thinly sliced and having a slight smokiness which enhanced the flavour of the springbok. This was served with toasted pine nuts, grilled strawberries, rocket, and a mango puree. All ingredients joining to complement the taste of the carpaccio.
The Tarts were equally tasty, with the pears being poached in white wine, and lending a natural sweet balance to the creamy goats cheese. This was served on top of balsamic reduction and along beetroot puree, with rocket and toasted nuts.
For our mains we selected their Pork Belly and Stuffed Calamari.
The pork belly was deliciously soft and flavourful, being glazed with honey. This was served with a fresh corn salsa, butternut puree and a pumpkin tart with homemade crackling on the side. Unfortunately, the top of the pumpkin tart was burned and although the majority of the burnt crust was removed the taste lingered in the tart.
The calamari was well prepared, being stuffed with Danish feta and jalapenos and was super flavourful. This was topped with deep fried squid legs adding a great crunch to the plate. The fresh home made pasta was perfectly cooked and tasted great. The cream cheese pasta sauce was unnecessarily rich and with no specific flavour (my personal preference would have been for more of an acidic pasta sauce, as the richness of the stuffed calamari and the rich cream cheese sauce did become overwhelming after a few bites).
For dessert we chose a Decadent Chocolate Mouse and Crème Brule.
The Crème Brule, was delicious with its perfectly toasted sugar topping. This was served with some glazed popcorn and giving a refreshing savoury balance to the sweetness of the Brule and sugar.
The Mousse, which consisted of 3 layers of homemade chocolate mousse was a great end to a wonderful ,meal being the perfect size of creamy sweetness.
Both deserts were served with a Raspberry sorbet and crumble. The sorbet on its own was a refreshing delicious desert, packing a punch of berry flavour.

My girlfriend & I went to Priva's to celbrate my birthday & was it worth it!!!!! We sat at the table closest to the jazz band and that felt like a private show just for us 2. The music was seriously enjoyable but also soft enough for us to talk without raising our voices. We ordered wine & the knowledgeable sommelier took us on a detailed journey of the history style of wine & also the specific vineyard it came from. Then came the food. We chose not to pick the set menu because we wanted to stick to the same type of wine. I can only describe the food as delectable. Overall ambience is perfect for a romantic evening outing. We can't wait to go back the next time we are in Pretoria.

This isn’t a place for lunch - it looked basic and tired. The food was good the wine menu and staff misleading - we had ordered a bottle of champagne to start and then with our main course we wanted French one - we ordered say and it turned out to be Spanish wine despite what’s written on the menu and the sommelier recommending it ! Dissapointing experience.

For next outing on Restaurant Week, we returned to this venue to experience their excellent service and food again. And although the service and quality of food was very good, they offered the exact same menu as they had the previous two Restaurant Weeks we had visited them (which to me almost defeats the purpose of Restaurant Week; in which Chefs and Restaurateurs introducing new and innovative dishes highlighting their culinary talents).
For this round of starters, we again selected their Crab Cakes and Springbok Carpaccio.
The Crab Cakes were freshly prepared, combining crab meat and kingklip with hints of citrus and herbs (with a crispy coating which was not oily). All served on a bed of fresh baby rocket leaves and a refreshing citrus dressing.
The Carpaccio burst with a smoky flavour and was very tasty with the arrangement of strawberries, pine nuts and fresh rocket.
For this round of mains, we again chose their Sirloin and Pork Belly
The Sirloin was perfectly prepared as ordered (medium rare) and very tasty. This was served with potato cubes, tender stem broccoli, crispy shallots bits and a red wine reduction. (For my own personal preference, I did not enjoy the red wine reduction, as it had a sickly sweet molasses undertone, which did not agree with my palate).
The Pork Bely was prepared with a honey soya glaze (while being a classic glaze for pork, it had the perfect balance between the sweet honey and salty, earthy soya preventing the pork from being overly sweet), while the meat was soft and tender.
This was served with a creamy slice of pumpkin tart (still lovely), dashes of corn salsa, butternut puree and a single piece of homemade crackling
Both plates were superb, well-executed and packed with flavour.
For desert we chose their Chocolate Mouse and Crème Brule.
The Crème Brule, equally creamy and flavoursome and topped with some popcorn and a popcorn ball on the side. This was served with a Berry Sorbet, refreshing and tangy, on a bed of biscuit crumbs.
The Chocolate Mouse, which consisted of a dark chocolate layer at the bottom, a white chocolate on top and a creamy (almost caramel) chocolate in between. This was very delicious, not being overly sweet and a wonderful balance of all three chocolate types. This was also served with the same Berry Sorbet, on a bed of biscuit crumbs.

We were warmly greeted when we arrived and everyone, from our waitress to the Sommelier and Owners were courteous, friendly and attentive during our visit.
For starters we selected their Crab Cakes and Pear & Goats Cheese Tart.
The Crab Cakes were freshly prepared, combining crab meat and kingklip with hints of citrus and herbs (with a crispy coating which was not oily). All served on a bed of fresh baby rocket leaves and a refreshing citrus dressing.
The Tarts were a well-balanced combination of pears poached in white wine (which had more of a lovely chai tee taste to them – imagine more cinnamon and less cardamon) and goat’s cheese. These were served with a balsamic reduction, a fresh and lovely beetroot puree and toasted nuts with fresh baby rocket, sliced radish and beetroot chunks (which tasted similar to the poached pears – lovely).
For mains we chose their Sirloin and Pork Belly
The Sirloin was perfectly prepared as ordered (medium rare) and very tasty. This was served on top of potato cubes (which were crispy without being oily), and a great combination with the tender stem broccoli, shallots and red wine reduction.
The Pork Bely was prepared with a honey soya glaze (while being a classic glaze for pork, it had the perfect balance between the sweet honey and salty, earthy soya preventing the pork from being overly sweet), while the meat was soft and tender.
This was served with a creamy slice of pumpkin tart (lovely), some refreshing corn salsa, butternut puree and a single piece of homemade crackling
Both plates were superb, well-executed and packed with flavour.
For desert we chose their Cheesecake and Crème Brule.
The Cheesecake (Reimagined as per the menu) was wonderfully constructed / deconstructed with the Vanilla fridge cheesecake, served on top of biscuit crumbs, little rooibos spheres (little gelatine balls), lime curd on the side and a rooibos sugar chip topping the desert. The combination being wonderfully light and refreshing.
The Crème Brule, was equally creamy and flavoursome. This was served with the Sorbet of the Day, which in this instance was a berry / raspberry combination. And although also very tasty, the fresh fruity flavours of the sorbet completely overwhelmed the delicate nuances of the Brule.
Great staff and great food made this visit a memorable one.

My fiance and I had both had the 7 course tasting with wine pairings. I'm not much of a food connoisseur, but every course was delicious and the wines were also great. The service is second-to-none! We never had to wait for the table to be cleared, call for a waiter's attention, or even pour our own water. The staff are all very attentive and charismatic, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. We eventually moved from our outside table to the inside, where the resident jazz band was playing. They were also extremely talented. Overall one of my favourite dining experiences of all time. Thank you, Priva!

Arriving at the place our initial thought was: it's at a mall, how can this be fine dining?
But we were wrong: once inside, the place has a lovely setting with nice live jazz music from wednesday to weekends.
We had the tasting menu with wine pairings. Food was excellent, wine was excellent and the service was great! If there was a downside I would say that it was quite a lot of food (and I'm a big eater). All together had a great experience here and the staff is really committed to ensure you have a great evening. When we could not get a uber back to our hotel, the owner even offered to drive us instead.
Quite amazing service!

Good day
I would love to say a big thumbs up to Priva . Celebrated my birthday there yesterday, I was impressed. From my waitress (forgot her name ) to the host Micheal who were exceptional.
I am an excellent cook myself so expected nothing but the best , and they definitely delivered . The venison I had was tender and just perfectly medium . Amarula mash ? Have you ever ☺️
Keep up the great work !! 5 starts from me , in future maybe get a variety of music from different genres . Over all and great experience I had .

First and foremost we did not observe the ridge-valley landscape. it was pitched dark and we had to walk from our uphill hotel in the Watekloof compound. The auto-deluxe presentation is 'overhelmerized'. Good waiting, small portions, ornamental pseudo-gastro. Happy affluent in attitude and laid back clientele. The jazz component is interesting and of some quality. Choice in menu and wine not analogous to the pretense of the styling. Dark and interestingly lit. Odd stairs to climb in the mall to get there.

Set in the Hills near Pretoria. It is a wonderful romantic spot. The food and wine menus are great. The dishes that came out were fantastic. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Some Jazz played also later in the evening. Will definitely be coming back :)

The food was divine.
What made the night so special is the fact that the owner gave my 4 year old a picture and pencells to keep her busy. Me and my wife could spend some time talking. The gesture was small but it make a huge difference. Thank you
