We really enjoyed our ice-creams from La Cremosa. The flavours were wonderfully intense. I had the chocolate brownie ice-cream and it tasted like a real brownie - compete with nuts. I also had the pistachio ice-cream and again, real nuts. Most delicious. The cones were...also wonderful. We were surprised at how unfriendly the staff were. We walked in and were barked at, “What do you want?” - “Um, gee. I’ve just walked in and don’t know what you offer so I’d like a few minutes to make up my mind”. Isn’t being in an ice-cream parlor all about trying to make difficult decisions? There are small and large cones available as well as various sizes of cups but there is no indication of how many scopes one can get for each size, and when we asked, again a brusque and curt reply. Not one friendly smile from any of the three young women working and no reply to our ‘Thank-yous’. There was no queue so it wasn’t as if we were holding things up. And it wasn’t close to closing time. Supremely disappointing. Fortunately, we just got our ice-creams and left - heaven knows how we would have been treated if we’d asked for anything extra (such as the tempting waffles on offer).More

I am always going to la cremosa since the melrose branch opened, when I visit I get a small cone with 2 scoops and they heap the scoops well, hence I go there despite the “unfriendly staff” they are rather rude. Anyways today on a...very cold day we go for icecream all the way from randburg and I don’t only get the unfriendly service from staff but she filled my cone with a really small scoop, and I told her I wasn’t happy as I never had anyone here give me such a scoop she argues with me for like 5 mins. When I said it’s fine I won’t come again I have had enough.. she tells me okay fine let me fill it up.. after all the arguing.. I was so put off. I have complained a few times before but they don’t ever respond back. Atleast in these tough times when your loyal customers still support u, don’t take advantage of them.. we are are suffering these tough times. “I have the previous icecream pics to compare the cone scoop from today’s and the receipt” I have complained both on their Facebook page and Instagram dms, they read messages and ignore ur complaints. Terrible service, would never recommend them or visit again.More

Lacrimosa is a clever name for a cremosa but, as an international student of ice cream and gelato, this was no crying matter at all. Bright little place, cheerful staff, good and originally inventive selection of superb ice creams makes this a place to which...to return. I can recommend the salted caramel, the caramel with chocolate bits and the other caramel I had as well as the second salted caramel. The coffee would have been a good follow up but was under construction in the back, the sanctum sanctorum where all ice creams are made. Three little tables and a bar stool or two inside and three or four little tables outside, reasonable prices and delicious delights in the ice cake freezer too, as well as the ice cream, you'd not be doing yourself justice in the name of Santo Gelato if you passed it by. It's quite obvious, so I'll tell you, that you can have a nice little steak at one of the restaurants in the centre and then descend on helado (Spanish) heaven, for the most important part of any multi course meal. I suppose that you could start there and work backwards, certainly the child in you would agree with that?More

Tried the Gelato at the uMhlanga branch. It is the best gelato we have had in a long time. Decided to take the extended family for dessert. Everyone really enjoyed the afternoon with the excellent gelato and dessert options. The service was excellent and we...enjoyed a great visit. Agree with other reviewers that this is the best gelato outside Italy.More

The portions are generous, there are constantly new flavors to choose from but "old faithful" flavors are also still available. Creamy and rich. Very friendly staff.

Our tour of your ice cream facility was the highlight of my visit to Jhb. We made strawberry sorbet, my new favourite, and we watched as the best of ingredients were put together to make a product of the highest standards. A true privilege. I...would recommend that all who live for gelato should pay you a visit. Thank youMore

I gave in and bought a choc brownie! My word - soft in the middle and crunchie on the outside, with awesome nuts inside. Kids obviously love the gelato. 😀
