Bobby D's BBQ is located in the Historic English Kitchen Restaurant building, Arizona's oldest operating restaurant building (est. 1899). Stepping through our doors is like stepping back in time. Imagine sitting on an original bar stool from 1899. If only these walls could talk! We are a 90% scratch kitchen, family owned and operated. All of our meats are hand trimmed, rubbed and smoked on premise. We have delicious sandwiches, fresh salads, and entrees. The specialty of the house is our slow-smoked, baby back ribs, they literally fall off the bone. We also feature a full bar, 6 microbrews on draft from our sister brewery The Belfry and a full service outdoor deck with bar.

We enjoyed the Brisket Platter. My wife and I shared the platter as we were not very hungry. However for the price, I felt the amount of food was pretty skimpy. We received 3 slices of brisket cut in half and 8 onion rings for $31.00!

My husband and I stopped in here for lunch last week and how glad I am we did. I am not a fan of narrow, twisty roads and I was in serious need of sustenance after driving into Jerome.
We were cordially greeted at the bar and invited to seat ourselves. Felix brought us two mason jar glasses of the best lemonade we’ve ever had. My husband enjoyed his Arizona cheesesteak and I my brisket sandwich. We both loved the onion rings and the jalapeño molasses barbecue sauce—but be mindful of clogging the nozzle of the sauce bottle or you’ll have an eruption of sauce all over your last clean shirt. 😂
We had GREAT service from Felix.

We generally try different BBQ places while traveling. This is now a favorite!
I had the brisket sliders-which were so tender...melt in your mouth and so tasty that I ate half of them without sauce!
It's relaxing sitting out on the patio looking at the sights around.
I will be returning here to eat in future travels!

It quickly became apparent that this establishment was not interested in service or quality food. As we exited, the hostess simply glared at us instead of a simple, “thank you for coming”. The brisket was dry and tough. The young man who brought our food quickly mumbled through the different bbq sauces, completely unintelligible. Basically, this place had the vibe of wanting to make money, but at minimal effort.
On their part.
1. Food was marginal at best.
2. Service - “I want a paycheck but don’t want to work”.
3. Gratitude - “nope, that’s beneath me, I just want a paycheck”
It just felt like they were filling squares and check boxes with no interest in giving good food , good service, or presenting a good attitude.
Maybe it was a bad day or maybe it’s hard to get good reliable help in Jerome, but in the end, we had a poor meal and left $50 lighter regretting we chose that establishment

We were soooo excited about going back to Bobby D’s again as we’ve gone out of our way to stop there many times in before. Everything about the place has changed since we were here just last year. The energy is different and the servers seem annoyed or short on information. You’re left to find your way to sit down and look at a menu, figure out where to get up and order food at the bar, serve your own soda, etc. like other reviewers have noted. The ladies that used to work there serving were fantastic and they were really missed.
The thing that was the most upsetting to me was that in spite of this, the prices have risen quite a bit and they’re offering less for what you’re buying. The menu is missing quite a bit of the things we used to love (sliced sausage among them) and the “large” sides aren’t large at all. The soda is $3.75 each, but you get a small cup. The ribs, which used to be amazing, weren’t as good as our other visits. To top it all off, they add a 12% service charge that they did not mention, nor was I offered an itemized copy of my receipt to see it, so I added a tip on top of that. Before tip, for one pulled pork sandwich, a half pound of ribs and three sides it was just under $80. None of it was worth going back for again.

This was our 8th visit to Bobby D's so this is not a one-time critique. We have always been pleased with the food and service here prior to this last week. In fact I would go so far to say that it was my favorite spot to dine previously. I have reviewed it previously, very positively.
However, for reasons usually blamed on Covid, the entire experience has changed and not for the best in my opinion.
Currently, the owners have converted the restaurant into what can only be described as a 'take-out' style diner. Yes, the bar is still there but the customer now peruses a menu which has been severely curtailed, more like cut in half from my memory. In fact, you order your fries separately which were included with the meal previously. Then you place your order at the bar and pay for it, receiving a cup based on your drink just like McDonald's. Now you go back into the dining room to go to the condiments/drink station to get your drink, plate, straws, forks, knives, etc. Just like McDonald's. Wait for the server to bring your food then back to the condiment station for adding to your menu item.
Four of us ordered burgers, pulled pork and Mac n' Cheese. All items came in small paper containers as shown in their photograph, which we then transferred to plates. The Mac n' Cheese was the most satisfactory while the sandwiches were simply eatable, nothing compared to what we had experienced prior to this visit.
What used to be a favorite spot to dine with friends has fallen into a less expensive rendition of self-service. I won't return again.

The food was wonderful and we have come here numerous times in the past with no complaints. We were looking for the same results. We had to seat ourselves, order food from the register, help ourselves to drinks and plates, silverware, and napkins. The food comes with nothing. You have to add a side for an additional cost and the soda machine was not working. You could get soda from the register area. I know it is difficult to stay in business after Covid in small towns but tourists come for service. The cost for two sandwiches with one drink and one side of fries was $42. Will have to rethink visits in the future.

Forget about the menu posted; they’ve recently updated it, with much higher prices. My “J-Man” pulled pork & slaw sandwich was $15, but when I paid it was $18. I thought maybe they charged me for the empty cup for water, but overheard another table of two locals questioning their bill(which was over $50 for two sandwiches, a side & iced teas); they were told by the bartender it’s a “new thing”, different price menu and 12% add-on service fee. I guess their “new thing” is to drive away locals and gouge tourists. My sandwich was only average tasting and had to use fork to eat, as the bread was too soggy to hold. I saw several more locals come in(we were sitting near the bar/entrance) and voice surprise at the new inflated prices.

We have been here many times in the past. Today we brought friends from Phoenix. The minute we arrived we felt like we were bothering the staff. The place was nearly empty. We had to seat ourselves, then go back to the register to order. We had to wait for the employees to finish their conversation before we could order. The gal who took our order seemed very irritated that we were there. While waiting for our food, I used the bathroom. It was filthy. The food came out and the portions were very small and I had the pulled pork sandwich and the bottom bun was mush. Had to eat it with a fork. The salad was good and was a good portion. But overall it was not great and very expensive. It’s Saturday at dinner time and no one was there. Now we know why. We decided we will not go back even tho we are locals. Too bad because we have eaten here many times in the past.

First time eating here and was very disappointed. As others have stated, you had to order at the bar, everything was extra, prices too high for just a simple sandwich, 12% service charge added, get your own drinks and condiments. I do not know how this is rated no. 1. My brisket barbecue sandwich was dry and tough, salad was lacking several items. Would not return.

Cold, dry and tough — the ribs and the service. While on vacation 18 months ago we were here and it was best ribs ever and it had a funky ambiance with friendly staff and melt in your mouth ribs. We read the recent negative reviews and thought it couldn’t be true. We were wrong. Place was mostly empty, which should have been our first clue. A line of patrons were standing in line to order. Cashier was stressed to have 3 couples waiting while she took an order. Our table had ribs and pulled pork sandwich. Neither was good. Bobby D has gone from best to worst—no ambiance only funk. Big disappointment.

My wife and I live in Prescott Az, when we’re in Jerome we sometimes eat at Bobby D’S
I stopped in a few months ago and ordered the bbq ham sandwich, not only was it a terrible tasting the meat that was in the the sandwich was as thin as a slice of baloney. When the waitress asked me how my sandwich was I told her it was terrible. I mentioned that being that their restaurant was a bbq place I expected way more meat than I was served, she just played it off. I won’t be back, terrible value!

Rolled into Jerome around noon hungry for lunch but not the usual fare, something unique to a ghost town, and boy did we find it. The super friendly servers guided us through each of their specialty bbq plates helped us choose, along with ice cold beer in a saloon style mug. And don’t forget the beans!

This place had very tasty food. You have to try the ribs and the brisket!!! They also have homemade sauces that take the food to another level. Our bartender/waitress Bonnie was so helpful and could explain the history of the place. She made suggestions about the food and was spot on!!! It was delicious!

We stopped in here for lunch on a day trip to Jerome. You order at the bar, then find a seat. Since it was a beautiful day, we sat outside. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich, my husband had the brisket sandwich, and we shared an order of onion rings. They were served quickly. The rings were pretty good, as were the sandwiches. The chicken could have used a bit less sauce, and the brisket was a tad dry. Overall though, a decent meal.
