There were quite a few people waiting & they had just seated a party of 17, so we were surprised that we were seated in the 20 minutes they told us. This is not a big place but we had a lovely table outside with umbrellas and a wonderful mountain view. My husband and I shared a fantastic meatloaf sandwich with homemade potato chips, since we knew we were going to have a big dinner that night, but it was so good, I wish I had ordered my own! Our friends had grilled cheese & ham sandwiches plus malts, that also looked great. We tried to buy a whole pie to take home (since they are known for them) but they have to be ordered ahead. We would definitely eat here again!

Great service, great food, great atmosphere. We felt very comfortable and everyone (family of 5) loved what they ordered. We took peach cobbler with ice cream home, oh my gosh was it amazing!

Wonderful down home restaurant... excellent service ( Ricardo Ortiz ) superb food at prices even I can afford . Pauline Merrill the owner keeps this hidden gem restaurant spotless .... No Corona served here. Funky motif with a home grown flavor . Quaint, quiet, charming off the beaten path .... locals eat and gather here and make visitors feel welcome. What more do want for a breakfast / lunch restaurant ?

Long our favorite place on the mountain…we often drive 40 minutes from Pinetop for breakfast or lunch. Did so 10/2 and it was awful. Service was absolutely horrible, snd they weren’t that busy. Sandwiches (mesquite burger and Reuben) mediocre. Onion rings were cold. BTW when restaurants excuse bad service with “but we’re SO busy” … isn’t that the idea?

We visit Greer a couple times a year but had not eaten here, as it was always very packed. We finally went this summer and found the trick is to get there early for breakfast. It is just wonderful home cooked food. The muffins are super yummy, and the eggs and bacon cooked to perfection. Love sitting on the porch by the Hummingbird feeders. They come right up by the table! The water comes right out of a spring, so it tastes great and makes for good coffee and tea. The staff is super friendly and efficient. We will be coming back here every time we are in Greer!

The Rendezvous, with its idyllic setting, has been our favorite place in Greer for over 25 years. Today's lunch told a different story. The server told me the grilled cheese sandwich used American Cheese.  When I asked for cheddar, I got grated cheese.  It wasn't well melted so I had to stuff cheese back in while eating. The side of 'pickle chips' were deep fried but the menu gave no indication they were fried.  They were abysmal. I have had fried pickles elsewhere that were delicious. These were tiny pieces of pickle with a lot of breading. When I mentioned the pickle chip oddness to the server, she shrugged & walked away. Husband's BBQ chicken sandwich was fine.  With no beverages, our bill was over $30.  It was a disappointment.  We won't be back.

A bright spot for dining in the tiny town of Greer, Arizona. Just open for Breakfast and Lunch. Can be very very busy and they work hard to get your food ready. They have a great list of breakfast items, and lots of variety of lunch. Mostly sandwiches , salads and burritos. This visit my husband enjoyed the fish and chips and I had a wonderful black bean burrito. Everything on the menu is delicious. Staff are very efficient, the restaurant is very small, but has outside dining and there is a picnic table across the street by a stream where we sat with our three dogs. We love this place.

The food and service is good, not super. It’s just too bad that they had to add a .25 cent per item up charge. They said it’s due to COVID. Hey guys we’re all feeling the pinch right now. But, rather than sticking it to the customer. Be glad that they are coming back. Sure it may cut into your profit margin but it shows alliance with the customer.

We've been going to the Rendezvous for breakfast for years, every time we are in Greer. We remember Cliff fondly, but the place isn't the same under the new owners. I'm not sure I'll go back. A good breakfast isn't hard to find, but a unique setting is. When the hostess seated us on the porch overlooking the meadow, I noticed that the hummingbird feeder was empty and asked if it could be filled. A couple other feeders along the railing were also empty. The hostess informed me that they thought it was more important to serve people than birds and she walked away. Well ok, people pay the check, but the reason many of the people are there to begin with is the hummingbirds. When the feeders are filled these little jewels flit around the feeders flashing their colors, just a couple feet away. It's enchanting. When the feeders are empty and cloudy they stay away. The hostess was dismissive like I was being ridiculous. And the food: my black bean breakfast burrito featured crunchy half-cooked beans. At least they were not canned, but they were undercooked. The onions were raw too. Basic cooking ... Please understand the 4 stars for service are for our waitress, who was very nice. By the time we were leaving the fake friendliness of the hostess just felt condescending. They clearly don't understand the cache they have with those birds. The solution is so simple: make cleaning and filling the feeders part of the opening routine.

This is my second visit, and I would go again. You need to know you're not going for the food. The cooking is mediocre. Not gross, just not great. Potatoes were lightly browned and bland. Again, not awful, just not worth bothering with. If my omelette was truly 3-egg, they were pullet eggs. You're going for the porch experience. Meadow- and mountain-view. Flowers. HUMMINGBIRDS. You also need to be as bold as the birds, because they are aerial daredevils, swooping in and out, down and around. Truly delightful. We were there on a Sunday morning, and so we waited quite a while. It was such a beautiful day that we didn't mind. My dining companion ordered a dessert, and asked that it not be heated. She didn't realize it would be frozen. :D Most people would prefer it warm, so it might not have occurred to our server to mention the ice part. Staff was attentive and friendly. Re: pet-friendly. We didn't bring a pet, so it wasn't part of our experience. The thing is that on the porch there is no room for an animal, unless it is a purse pup. The tables are tiny, and the aisle between them is narrow. We were asked if we minded if a service dog sat near us, and we didn't mind at all; however, it seemed that the dog would not be able to sit with its master, and that doesn't work. Overall, my experience here (twice) has been lovely, and I wish I could say the food was more appealing. However, the overall feel is great. It's weird to recommend a restaurant with two-star food, but if you try it you'll know what I mean.

I've been avoiding writing this review, especially since I live close-by. The food this cafe puts out is an embarrassment. The only reason why this place survives is the tourists who don't know any better. I understand the attraction........the sweet little hummingbirds but do yourself a favor and do not eat here. There is a MUCH better restaurant, less than 20 minutes away (Trail Riders) with great food.

We are here at least 2 or 3 times year. We would never miss it when we are in Greer. Here is what we love about this place: 1. The food is fantastic diner food. The breakfast burritos with red chile sauce are actually to die for. My husband is addicted to their biscuits and gravy. All of the other meals I have ever had here were perfect. Desserts too. 2. Wonderful service. We still mourn the passing of our long time favorite server, Cliff in January 2019. Every meal served by Cliff was fun and delicious. But every other server there is wonderful. Knowledgable, efficient and very nice. They are wonderful when we bring in a big family group and are very kind to our three year old granddaughters. 3. The restaurant is one of those places with antiques (read junk) everywhere. On the walls, from the ceiling, on shelves. Endlessly entertaining inside and a beautiful patio and porch to dine on in the summer. 4. Great value here.

Every year our family loves to go to Greer and look at the Fall colors and stop for lunch at Rendezvous Diner. Food is top notch! Expect at a short wait as the diner is very popular and is always busy. Pauline does a great job and always gives a Tootsie Pop sucker to our kids once we are done. I highly recommend the New Mexico burger with red sauce! Her red sauce is the best I have ever had. Bread pudding is to die for. If you have ties to the area spend a minute checking the walls for people you know. She has hundreds of photos of the locals. I found a photo of my grandad Jack Slade on the wall and also my high school math teacher Sunny Wiltbank.

This is a very nice atmosphere but it wasn’t a great experience… food was mediocre and the service was poor. The meatloaf lacked texture and taste… The place was not busy but it felt like we were always just a bother to the staff???? Would not recommend this place….

I don't understand the negative reviews. We went for lunch and the food was really good. Our choices included the chili and also a cheeseburger and both were tasty. The service was wonderful, so friendly. I'm posting current menus here so you can see all the choices!!
