Visiting in the area I decided to stop in, very deceiving from the outside, greeted at the door and sat at the bar where they also have a dining area, I always dislike when I say that I'm going to have a drink and will order later they push a menu at me and then keep coming by asking if I'm ready to order. I got a Guinness didn't know they had 2 sizes with their premium drafts ($7.25 & $9.75) and thats where I have an issue, for 9.99 you can by a six pack, I had been to another in town establishment the night before and had the same Guinness and got 2 for the price of 1 at Phils, after the 3rd time asking if I was ready to order I did cause I was getting tired of being asked. Got a pizza with extra cheeses well done, well got the pizza ( they do have an excellent selection) a 2nd beer and cashed out, foolish me should have checked, the pizza not well done and actually had to put it in the oven at home,. remember to check your take out so thats my own fault but you get what you paid for, the pizza was ok and I'd probably go back but with so many other choices in the area and much less price wise(especially beer wise) as well it's probably going to be awhile

Have been over for the car show that Phil's sponsors on Sunday mornings several times and always eat lunch at the restaurant. The service is good, maybe a tad slow, but they are always jam packed on Sundays, so they get a pass on that. Have never had a bad meal here, although, I can't say I have ever had a great meal here either. It's just consistently good food that hits the spot. Value is good. The ambiance is very retro diner / car themed - very cool. They do have some good gluten free options also, which is a huge plus!

Lots of options on the menu. We sat outside on the patio, which was very nice. For gluten free options you can switch out the bread for sliced tomatoes and fruit bowl. We had the California omelette and the veggie omelette- the vegetables in both omelettes were very fresh.

2 couples on vacation. Hugh menu, everything just ok. Tried shrimp, lobster baja tacos which were just ok, cold and over spiced. Fried chicken was so over fried, was jerky. Chick parm was served in water. Bill was expensive for poor quality.

Phil's has a true diner atmosphere. Its decor is '50s with Coca Cola memorabilia decorating all of the walls. '50s music plays in the background, low enough to enjoy and still hold a conversation (thank you!). Our server was attentive, and our meals arrived quickly. I ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Tacos. My meal came with three tacos that were overflowing with seafood. They were excellent. The mango salsa that topped them was tasty. The tacos were accompanied by rice and beans. My daughter started with a bowl of clam chowder, one of the two soups offered that day, followed by the Shrimp and Avocado Salad. The clam chowder was a decent sized bowl, and she said it was excellent. Her salad with lemon herb vinaigrette was quite large, and the shrimp were of a good size. We were impressed with the variety of offerings on the menu, which made it hard to decide what to enjoy. If you have never been to a diner, or if you enjoy eating at diners, Phil's is a great choice!

For a place to be popular there has to be value.
Almost all of the omelettes were $12 and that's with no drink.
There were no breakfast specials that were posted or told to us.
With a drink, tax, and a tip that will put you back $20 for breakfast.
The tax is 10 percent which is double what we pay in Wisconsin.
Overpriced for my budget. Maybe Snowbirds have deep pockets.

We have found over the years that breakfast can be hard to mess up but it is equally hard to do really well. This is the “not mess up” type. Read reviews, hoping for a little imagination, didn’t find it. Omelettss cooked hard, chunks of potatoes chunked, pancakes on the heavy side, and “Benedict” with bland sauces and a thin slice of ham from a package. Nice to sit outside in the sun and staff were agreeable but the best breakfast in town - hardly. Fried things we have found don’t have to taste like they were deep fried - breakfast can be creative but not here when we visited.

We got takeout for breakfast and when we got home there were some errors. No bacon for one and a pancake instead of French Toast. When I called the order in it seemed like the waitress couldn’t hear me well. Maybe if they read back the order, less errors would be made. I did enjoy my omelet and my boys finished their pancakes.

My wife and I ordered a Ruben sandwich. The sandwich was provided with the potato salad that I selected. The entree was nice and hot. It tasted pretty good. The restaurant looked apealling and I will try again once the COVID virus is under control.

We had lunch one day and husband had a sandwich and then went the next day for lunch, both meals very good. With all the Christmas up when you walk in, you feel like you’ve fallen back into another time when life was easier. It smells like pine trees and feels homey. All our waitresses were great! Would not hesitate to go back for one second.

SO much food on the menu. You could take an hour looking at it. This is meant as a compliment Food was so good. Prices were fair. Atmostphere was that of a 50's joint. So sorry we were only visiting. Wish there was a place like this near us.

Phil the owner is rude and unpleasant. I have been in many times and he is the same. Such a shame because the food, staff and atmosphere is quite the opposite. He needs to thank his lucky stars people overlook his miserable personality and still go there.

Having had mediocre experiences in other nearby places, and after reading reviews of Phil's on TA we decided to give it a shot. Sorry we didn't come here first. Had the last dinner and then (next day) last breakfast of our stay, and if we had known earlier we would have taken all of our meals here. The menu is really extensive and covers everything from your basic burger to relatively sophisticated oriental and Italian dishes. Usually one would take the exotic offerings with a bit of skepticism, but there were four of us ordering wildly different items and everybody was happy. Portions are a bit on the large side, but everybody enjoyed their meals and we got to take tomorrow's home with us. One of our party is allergic to practically everything, but the terrific staff catered for her without a blink. Saw a review about the owner being rude...not our experience. He was very accommodating to two wheelchairs, and we had a pleasant chat with him. I guess anybody can have a bad day.
Breakfast was fast, big, and delicious, with as many choices as anybody could want. The staff deserves a special mention; everybody with whom we had any contact was super friendly, helpful, and efficient. Can't think of a single negative comment to make, and we'll be here every time we pass near Fountain Hills, even if we have to detour.

Food was good but the kitchen was very slow. The staff was friendly but the hostess seems to be always flustered. Maybe the owner needs to spend more time watching to attend to these details.

Huge portions of yummy food – my favorite being shnitzel – friendly & prompt service, generous drinks and the right level of background music, it’s very very good.
