About
The Grille is in a historic building originally built in 1923 as the Rialto Theater. It was the longest running single-screen theater in the United States until December 1998, when it was lost to fire. Reopened in December of 2005 as The Tavern Grille, guests will see the charred concrete walls that frame the dining room today. The building next door, built in 1925 as a grocery store, was converted into the upscale Tavern Hotel in 2011 and guests enjoy welcome cocktails at the Tavern Grille Bar. Upstairs from the Grille is a luxury penthouse that is part of the Tavern Hotel experience.

The restaurant is adjacent to the Tavern Hotel. We had coupons for complimentary drinks so decided to eat there as well.
The place is casual and there's good sized bar at the front. There were only 2 tables outside and they were filled. We sat at a nice booth and they appeared to be social distancing. Staff wore masks.
Our server was delightful. The menu was varied with items ranging from sandwiches to full dinners. We ordered dinners and they were very generously plated, plus came with salad or soup.
I had mentoned it was my husband's birthday and although we wanted dessert, we were too full to enjoy them right away. We ordered them to go. When our check arrived, we found that our server had very generously comped dessert!
We would return on our next trip to Cottonwood.

I read the reviews and as we all do, and hoped It was as good. Our meal was phenomenal quality! We had the prime rib dinner and the prime rib sandwich . Prime rib was a perfect medium as requested, fresh grilled veggies on side.Timing of delivery of food was great. Our server was attentive and friendly and Gunnar, the manager, made sure he stopped by all the guests to say hi and ask how our experience was going. First time here, but will return on next trip, Also very nice atmosphere!

Tonight was an amazing experience at Tavern Grill. We had a b day party of 8 and we had special diets, requests and all were met extraordinarily! 3 at our table had salmon and each person requested it to be prepared differently which the kitchen perfectly executed. 3 more had steaks all different temperatures and different plates, they all were prepared perfectly and seasoned just right. The salads were very generous and everything was fresh and crisp. This place has a great cocktail menu which we took advantage of. The mules were great and the mojito was so smooth. Staff was prompt, never had a drink that was half full. Great place, great food and options for picky eaters. Very accommodating place which was exactly what we needed.

Stopped by Tavern Grille for lunch. Sat outside in their covered patio which was really nice - they have heaters if it gets too cold. The seats are spaced apart and the staff all wear masks. My Wife ordered the southwest salad and I ordered the bacon cheese burger. Food came out and was super fresh. One of the best burgers I have had in quite some time. My Wife's salad was very good - could have been a little larger given the $14.00 price, but was tasty. We will definitely return for another lunch. The Service was absolutely spot on and so they got a big tip.

Our friends told us we needed to go to the Tavern Grille while in Cottonwood. We were not disappointed. Given the Covid-19 situation we asked to dine on the patio. They did a very good job of following the CDC protocols. Our server Becca was very personable and attentive. My wife had the Teriyaki Rice Bowl with seared Ahi, which was prepared perfectly and I had the Filet Trio with 3 different sauces, which I really enjoyed We topped it off with their chocolate brownie desert, which was delicious. We definitely would recommend the Tavern Grille and look for to dining there the next time we are in Cottonwood.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Tavern Griller during a weekend to Cottonwood. They have done a good job of spacing out tables and guests, all of the servers had on masks and we were able to relax and enjoy a fantastic dinner. Definitely recommend eating here when you are in Cottonwood.

Tavern Grille is in the middle of Main Street old town. The inside is full of comfy booth seating, a full bar and also outdoor. There are big screens for sports fans.
Instead of being another average sports bar, this property turns out to serve worldclass food and culinary experience.
My southwest burger on sourdough(cooked perfectly rare and juicy how I like it) with pepperjack cheese, onions was phenomenal, better than most gourmet burger places in the mega market cities. The sweet potato fries were delicious(also perfectly cooked) drenched in ketchup.
My 1800 Agave silver Margarita was superb-best I've had in 2020.
Manager Gunnar was super-exhibiting consummate professionalism and class. Server Shawna, Hostess Heaven and busboy Justin performed superbly.
I rate best burger in Cottonwood, maybe northern Arizona and best sports tavern.
Highly recommended.

Best way to describe this place is to suggest readers read other reviews. Read both the good ones and bad ones. I can agree with all of them in one way or another. Now if the owner/chef is as described, I'm sure there is a high level of pride in her cooking abilities. Based on the taste of my order, I would compliment her on those abilities. The flip side of not listening to customer opinions though, is troubling. Customer taste will vary and you can't change that fact. This is a Pepsi place...sorry Coke folks. There's a nice horseshoe bar inside and I really liked the decor. There's also some outside seating available. We both enjoyed our food...especially the jalapeño coleslaw (a must). I'm definitely coming back here again!

I had a lovely evening at the Taver Grille from the drinks to the service. A few things that bothered me though was the food took a while to get to the table after seeing the food up in the window. When I got my food the fries were cold. Finally happy to get our food when we took a bite there was no flavor the food lacked taste and needed salt and pepper. The drinks were great and so was our server Kaitlin

To celebrate my birthday I went to the Tavern Grille, which I've been to many times before everytime I visit my favourite town in America, Old Cottonwood, the restaurant / bar has a beautiful ambience, beautiful food and friendly staff... apart from the manager who extremely rude and lacks the people skills which in the service industry is the very thing you need !
My girlfriend and I went here on Saturday afternoon, 2/26/22 for some lunch and drinks, we were having a great time sitting at the bar and I was buying different groups of strangers who we got chatting to at the bar some shots and beers, I spent $343.07 in less than 3 hours which I've no problem with as I was celebrating mine and my girlfriends birthday, and I may add the Tavern Grille didn't have any issues taking my money either. The bad taste in my mouth started when the manager walked up to my girlfriend and asked her to stop laughing so loud as the group that were sitting at the table beside us complained to him that she was too loud, obviously we looked straight around and they came over to us and said they didn't say anything to the manager, whether they did or didn't it's not the most diplomatic thing to do pointing out someone that may have made a complaint. A short while later I ordered another round of shots for other nice folks that came to the bar, for some reason the bar person gave me an extra shot which I offered them and they refused, I offered it to maybe 6 staff that were working in the bar and they all refused.... I've been to many a bar whereby the bar staff would do a shot which is why I offered the spare shot to them. I was taken aback when the manager approached me and told me to stop offering his staff a drink, I offered each one the shot to which they all politely declined, I wasn't constantly asking them to take the shot, nor did I ask them to take it back and take the cost off my bill but for the manager to come up to me and speak to me the way he did, I will just say it was unbecoming of a service industry manager and hugely unprofessional, If I owned Tavern Grille I would invest in some training on people management skills for my manager.
Unfortunately this "manager" left a very bad taste in my mouth and I will never step foot in this establishment again.

The Tavern Grille was the first place we discovered in Cottonwood a number of years ago. Excellent food then, excellent food now. Their unique version of meatloaf is still one of my all time favorite foods. Always moist and tender, the flavors influenced by the cheese will always draw me in.
Dinner came with choice of soup/salad. Their French Onion is fabulous. Only problem was that mine evaporated too quickly. The ladies raved about the salmon which was perfectly seasoned and cooked to their liking. Kitchen is still outstanding, even with only 2 chefs behind the counter.
Our server was not very sharp. Several tables around us which ordered after us were served before us. That never looks good to a customer. Even other 4 tops received food faster. She brought me lemonade instead of iced tea and never checked on a refill, even when it sat empty when dinner finally arrived. Perhaps her attention to chatting with the staff prevented her from taking better care of us?

We are so happy to hear that you are returning guests over the years and our food continues to satisfy! That meatloaf sure is delicious and the French onion is to die for, sounds like you made some excellent menu choices.
On the other hand we are saddened to hear that you did not receive the usual outstanding service that our team puts out each and every day. We will be looking into that.

Lost 1 point for covid. Outdoor seating was cramped, bar two rows deep, and every table filled. When we first sat down it met guidelines but by end of meal we were very crowded. Of course no masks.
Lost 1 point for food. The server recommended the Prime Rib Dip and assured me it was med rare/rare. There was no pink and without the au jus it would have been bland.
I would avoid until after pandemic.

We came over from the Tavern Hotel to have our complimentary drink - our first visit to Tavern Grille. The server could not have been more friendly and accommodating - even though she knew our drinks were "free"! Because of the friendly attention, we stayed for more than one round of drinks and came back later that evening for a "night cap". Since we had already eaten dinner, we did not order any food but we will definitely come here for a meal on our next trip to Cottonwood. You can certainly feel the culture of this company (hotel, bar and restaurant) by the genuinely friendly and attentive treatment by all their employees.

We popped into the Tavern Grille for dinner and drinks while visiting Cottonwood over Christmas. We managed to get the last two seats at the bar where we were well looked after by Meagan.
We had a few beers (the local IPA and lager are both good), some wine and appetizers including the sliders, tacos, potato skins and the brat and pretzel bites. Everything was hot, tasty, fresh and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The staff were all masked during our stay, we saw tables and the bar top being sanitized regularly while we were there, and there's hand sanitizer available for guests. I didn't have any concerns from a health perspective.
We'd definitely go back to the Tavern Grille if we return to Cottonwood. It's a nice bar to spend a couple of hours in. Plus they also had the Packers game on TV which was an added bonus!

Stopped in for lunch and sat at the bar. Food was good and portions big ( had to get boxes to bring some home). Special requests/substitutes were not a problem. Service was very good, and we were very impressed and appreciative that the manager stopped by to check on how our food/dining experience was.
