This place is a fooler. Very rustic location, but the food was awesome. Just down the hill from out Airbnb Vineyard Views at Sunset Ridge ( great stay). The wine cellar is fantastic, and Sunday nights open bottle glasses of wine are half price. Got a Nebbiolo for $5 . The Ahi tuna salad was really great. Views out the back of Oak Creek right below and many hummingbirds feeding outside the window from feeders.

I have been meaning to try this restaurant for years and taking this lesser known, somewhat longer back way route into Sedona. Many valley locals are unaware of Page Springs and its wineries. It’s a great backroad into Sedona if you continue the road, you will avoid a lot of the traffic that usually goes to Sedona from the I-17.
We finally made it over and my wife had no clue about this restaurant. This is also a restaurant the late John McCain would frequent, which was probably his favorite restaurant. Anyways, once you go a few miles on Page Springs Road, you will see the charm of the road as it follows along the creek. Eventually you will hit the restaurant, and it is probably best you make a reservation. The restaurant, not overly huge as it probably has a couple dozen tables at most, overlooks a creek which just adds to the charm. The menu some unique items, such as Rack of Venison, As well as common items like Ribeye. For a restaurant that is hidden from the tourist of nearby Sedona, expectations somehow come in low, and this is where they over deliver. The staff is friendly, the food was great, and so were the drinks. The path to get their may require a little extra effort to get there, and it is worth the little extra drive, especially when most tourist aren’t going to venture out of the Sedona area. This in itself, combined with the great food and surroundings makes it that much more memorable.
They do have a bar with a good selection. I wouldn’t call it a bar scene, but if you bring your own company you will definitely enjoy the overall experience.
Most valley locals are unfamiliar with the little town and its wineries, much less this restaurant, so you can really impress them with this hidden gem. The next time I am in the Sedona area, I will definitely be making the extra effort once again to comeback.

Up the Creek Bistro Wine Bar is a must stop for lunch, dinner or just a cocktail in a very unique setting. Up the Creek is on beautiful Page Springs Rd. and sits above a creek with rocks and abundant vegetation. We stopped here for lunch before visiting the many wineries that are also on Page Springs Rd. We opted for two appetizers, the cheese plate and the grilled shrimp along with a dessert we shared. Everything we had was delicious and we're looking forward for a second visit soon. It is recommended that you call for reservations which we did not because we had no idea what time we would be in the area. We were lucky and didn't have to wait for a table.

We know this restaurant only takes reservations, so on a whim we called an hour before they opened to see if we could get in for lunch and left a message. We received a call back and they said yes, come at 11:15. We get there and no one wrote our reservation down, so we stood at the door for 10 minutes while the owner fretted and almost refused to seat us. While we were seated the owner was moving tables and chairs around us and arguing with the staff. Not exactly conducive to quiet dining by the creek. The kitchen service was slow, the duck legs were over cooked and if there were 4 thin pieces of meat on my gyro special, I missed one. My husband had the western burger and that was the worst barbecue sauce we’ve ever tasted. The bill for lunch including tip was $77.00 For two appetizers and two entrees with two teas. I don’t mind paying for great food, excellent atmosphere and friendly staff, none of which we experienced here!

We made a reservation as I requested. Arrived at the time and we’re met by two tired looking servers who were disagreeing on which one would take our table. Mind you, this was 12:00 and lunch service. The place was also almost empty. We waited 20 min for water and were told we could not order a winetasting a flight.Server then Told us that we could order a flight since another couple was ordering a flight and she did not want to acquire a table with one and have us complain about not being able to order one. It was all quite odd. We ended up all leaving. I would not recommend this restaurant. At the scenery is pretty, but the service is horrible.

We travel full-time now that we're retired and, thus, spend many hours in restaurants around the country. We often spend a month or more in Arizona and love the hiking, river trips and birding. But, unfortunately restaurants are NOT an Arizona strong suit!
UP THE CREEK IS AN EXCEPTION!! Put simply, it is by far the best we've experienced in this state. I think it's the attention to detail that's most impressive. We watched as Mario actually polished the wine glasses and rewash one that didn't sparkle. The windows are massive and look onto the riparian ecosystem along the river, so everything is gloriously green and the birds that come to the feeders along the entire length of the restaurant are fabulous fun! Hummers, finches, and even a Black huge Black Hawk with it's signature white tail strip, came by to see what was for dinner!
The wine list is thoughtful and nicely rounded; great choices from around the globe.
Our waitress was stellar; attentive, prompt and observant. They were out of the wine I ordered and she brought me a sample of her recommendation which turned out to be perfect. Our food was well prepared, beautifully plated, and correctly served. My husband loved the Buttermilk Pie; I thought it was nice, but did miss something chocolate to go with a nice dessert wine.
Actually, we're making time to go back once more before leaving for new adventures!

Loved Up The Creek! Clark was our server and was great, ask for him when you go. I had grilled artichokes and grilled shrimp, very tasty. The shrimp was cooked perfectly 😁
Others had burgers and ribs, wines and beers...all very happy with their selections. We would definitely return!

We enjoyed our first visit to UTC very much. A lovely lunch selection served with a view of the creek and the hummingbirds zipping by outside the window. A bit of the beaten track, but well worth the trip. Back for dinner and the lovely wines next time!

This restaurant was recommended by more than one person we met while in Sedona. It's a wonderful setting with bird feeders hanging in front of a bank of windows that provide a good view of a small pond teeming with ducks. The place was busy, but our waitress made us feel immediately at home. She made food recommendations and suggested a great wine pairing. We ordered a wonderful brussels sprout appetizer and a fantastic gourmet polenta that turned out to be the best meal we had on our 10-day vacation. This place is a 10.

WIfe and I had dinner at Up the Creek. About ten minutes from Sedona but plan your dinner time around sunset because the drive is beautiful at sunset. Even though its out of town down 89A, we got there in the same amount of time from our B&B as driving through town to a restaurant on 179. The junction of 179 and 89A is a mess around 5 p.m.
Prices were much more reasonable than the two other restaurants we visited Bella Vita was overpriced and food was not good and Creekside Bistro - food was good but about $10 a plate more than Up the Creek. I had the Lamb and it was very good. Big helping cooked perfectly. My wife had the pasta dish and didn't like it. But we saw other tables order Duck, burger, salmon and all looked amazing.

When we pulled into the parking lot, I thought that it would just fill our stomachs sufficiently to tide us over until dinner. The simple rustic nature of the exterior didn't instill confidence in anything more nor did the greeting that we got from the hostess. Wow was I wrong. Not only was the food beautifully and thoughtfully prepared from quality ingredients, the hostess, who turned out to be our server, was not only friendly but very helpful, thoughtful, anticipatory, and proactive. And while the food itself had many special touches that made it particularly appealing, the view out the windows was intriguing as well. Not so much for the creek, as it's more of a dirty, slow flowing stream, but the plethora or birds, from hummingbirds to various sorts I know nothing about, clustered around the feeders that had been hung out for them right outside the windows. And the art work on the walls was of very high quality (the fellow has a store at Tlaquepaque). And my wife tells me I should mention (she told me twice) that the bathroom easily exceeded expectations (and was really quite nice).

Half price on red wine on Sundays - makes it affordable. Ate at the bar and bartender was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Ate the recommended daily special of beef stroganoff and it was super if a bit salty - maybe they do that so we drink more?! Setting is great and interior rustic. Will go again!

As soon as we entered the restaurant we were warmly greeted and escorted to our river view table. All the tables have river views and the building fits into the landscape providing a close-to-nature feeling. All four of our meals were prepared by a master chief Our waitress Mandy was attentive without being intrusive. She knew the menu and what to recommend.

We visited several restaurants in Sedona and by far our family of four agreed this is the best restaurant we visited while in Sedona. They are located 20 minutes from the main area of Sedona but it is worth the drive. The restaurant has big windows with hummingbirds feeders and it is really beautiful. We went for dinner and then lunch. We had the rack of venison (amazing), the roasted cauliflower was delicious, we all agree this was the best burger, and tuna melt (lunch) . The killer was the dessert. The best buttermilk pie ever!! We ordered one for dinner, and returned for lunch and order 5 slices. The manager, Clarke, was our waiter for dinner. He was friendly, and very knowledgeable. Morgan was our waitress for lunch, Call in advance to make reservations, they are not in open table .

We visited Up the Creek for dinner after visiting a couple of the nearby wineries. We had a reservation and I would say we needed one, as the place was pretty full even in January. The menu has lots of tempting offerings. I had the duck breast; my friend enjoyed the baby-back ribs. Prices are reasonable for the quality and type of dishes but you should expect to spend $30+ for entrees. Service at our table was OK, but someone clearing dishes nearby seemed angry or frustrated and was slamming around the place with a dishrag.
