I had high hopes for this place when we stopped in for lunch on a sunny Saturday. The menu with a wide range of burgers and sandwiches sounded great and I found the funky dive drive in theme appealing.
You order at the counter inside, pay, get a number, then they bring your food out when it’s ready. We both ordered the cowboy burger (cheeseburger with onionn rings, bacon and BBQ sauce) and split a chocolate shake. While they mention that they cook to medium well, I didn’t think anything of it until receiving the bland tasteless food a while later-very ordinary. Life’s too short to eat ordinary so neither of us ate all of our burgers. The buns were nothing special, the meat dry with some basic store-brand bbq sauce-definitely had better.
Highlight was the chocolate milkshake.

Lunch time found us hungry for a burger so we stopped at Big Earl's. We ordered a hamburger, French fries, a coke and a peanut butter milk shake. Boy were they good. The burger had everything we wanted on it - onion, lettuce, pickle and tomato with a special mayonnaise. We ordered within 5 minutes and selected our table. Before we were served at our table, about 10 minutes, the line to order was out to the parking lot, at least a 15 minute wait to order, but it was well worth the wait. If you saw the movie "Jolene", Big Earl's was one of the back drops. Don't miss this fast food place when you are in Cave Creek. Oh yes, "where's the grease?"

We have seen this place for years, but never tried it. We finally did and it lived up to your former reviews. The burgers were delicious and the beef came from Harris Ranch where In ‘N Out gets theirs. We liked the fries, service was quick and staff pleasant. They were busy... a good sign. We’ll be back to try other things on the menu. It also wasn’t as greasy as named! The old garage setting sure fits in with the funky Cave Creek atmosphere.

We went to Earls for lunch. Very few people there. We had to wait five minutes for someone to take our order and then they told us it would take another 30 minutes to have two simple hamburgers made at which point we left. Their attitude was they could care less about us.

I ordered a salad and got a salad with rotten tomatoes and mold on them. I was then told that the tomatoes did not have mold on them that it was the end of the tomato by the waitress and that they could not give me a refund the owner does not allow refunds. I was stunned that the at the customer service and that the owner would not allow a refund for rotten food. I will never go back and I hope nobody makes the mistake I did by visiting this place of wasting $45 on food you couldn't eat.

Friends recommended the Kobe beef burger. We ordered medium, came out well done. Sweet potato fries looked like yesterday's left over and were served cold. Not clean and pretty run down. Minimal atmosphere. Could be much better. Not recommended.

We have been at Big Earl's many times. The most recent experience may well be our last. Big Earl's burger starts at $9.75, fries and a soft drink drive it up another $6.88. While it is fun to go there, I am afraid they are pricing themselves out of the market. The outside tables appear never to be cleaned. The patio has misters and that helps alot for outside seating. You have to go in and place your order and get your drinks. They provide credit cards screens with 18, 20, and 25% tip suggestions. For an expensive burger and little or no service I find the price to expenisve to return.

We stopped here after hiking Pinnacle Peak to treat ourselves to a big juicy cheeseburger, fries and a milkshake! Needless to say, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we should have shared the fries and even the burger! Portions are plentiful but a little on the pricey side at approximately $12 for a cheeseburger with no side offering. Lunch for 2 w tip was $54.
They have ample outdoor seating in the front, minimal indoor tables and a large backyard/outdoor seating area with picnic tables, bean bag toss and some hoops etc.
They have everything from breakfast to salads, burgers, Hot dogs etc and a bar that features 60 beer selections and "adult milkshakes".
You order at the counter, are given a number to take a seat and then the waitstaff brings everything out to you.
My only two suggestions to this establishment is they need another cashier/order taker and should consider an addl staff person dedicated to make milkshakes/malts so it doesn't hold up the order taking especially during peak times. The cashier also makes your shakes/malts and although she was efficient, it took quite a while to place our order .
My second suggestion is that they should have recycling containers for plastic and styrofoam cups, etc.
They also have an old fashioned candy store adjacent to the restaurant that also has some souvenirs.
Fun place!

This place is located in what seems to be an old gas station and it has an interesting variety of vintage stuff. It is worth stopping by to have a coffee and a look but do not eat at Big Earls.
We decided to go for breakfast and although the place was not busy they got both my order and my wife's orders wrong. The quality of the food was questionable at best, the portions were small and it was highly overpriced for what they served. You can get a better breakfast at a fast food joint.
My advice is to go for a coffee and a look at the place and then go somewhere else to eat.
Overall a highly disappointing experience.

We came into Cave Creek late at night, and Big Earl's was one of the few places still open, but it was a real treat! It's like a burger joint of the 50s with all the pictures, signs and neon of the era. They have a great burger menu, with a few other things like hot dogs, chicken and veggie sandwiches, and some salads. We had the blackened chicken sandwich and turkey melt with mac-n-cheese bites, and everything was delicious. Staff were super friendly and accomodating and we really loved our experience there. Would love to return soon.

Went to Big Earls for breakfast. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich on an English muffin. Egg sandwich on the menu is $6.96. Add cheese $2, add bacon $2. My sandwich is now $10.96. Husband ordered biscuits and gravy, 2 John eggs and hashbrowns. With fountain drinks the total came out to $44.
Cost is disproportionate to food quality (rate that a 3) and experience (order at counter then they have you select 1 of 3 predefined tipping options)
Pricing themselves out of the market. We won’t be back any time soon.

Order at counter. Only 4 small tables inside and tons of outdoors seating, but it was cold the day of our visit. Dropped in prior to a golf game in the area—burritos hit the spot, but $35 USD for two burritos and a coffee, without any sides is very pricey.
Looks like a fun joint, really cool decor.

Loved this place! Went there for burgers and service and food were both great. I recommend the Big Kahuna burger … they subbed with a veggie patty for free and the whole thing was delicious! My husband got a beef burger and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Fries and tots are also good. Lots of outdoor seating. Family friendly too. Go! :)

We went to Big Earl's for dinner. The place was run down and almost all of the seating was outdoors. The service was counter service. We had a burger which was overseasoned with cajun seasoning and a chicken sandwich which was salty. The sweet potato fries were cold. The mac and cheese bites were tasty. We also had a shake and a lemonade. All items were priced a la carte. Our bill for two sandwiches, two sides and two drinks was $57.00. Never again.

First time eating there. Burgers were very good but the oil they toasted the bun with left an off taste that for me ruined the sandwich. Tater tots were very good. Staff friendly. I would return if they could just give me an untoasted bun.
