The English Rose Tea Room has been serving Afternoon Tea in Carefree for over 19 years. Try a scone with jam and cream or our much acclaimed 'Duchess of Bedford's Formal Afternoon Tea'. Better yet, sample one of our delicious salads or our homemade cottage pies. We import our cream from Devon and serve only the finest teas, with over 25 varieties to chose from on our menu.Open 6 days a week throughout the year, we look forward to seeing you! I was recently with 2 friends from Canada on our way back to Mesa from Sedona and we decided to stop in carefree on the way. What a delightful surprise to find this charming authentic English tea room in such an unlikely place! My family are all from England so I know the value of a good cup of tea and a delicious homemade scone with jam. It was a wonderful welcome treat. My friends have both been to England and like their hot cup of tea as well. The space was a bit crowded and the tables were small once we had all of our tea and scones on it. Other than that it was a lovely start to our day in carefree!

Lovely place and very fun experience

The moment you walk in the truly adorable decor and sweet scents draw you in. The service was good food very good and we were not rushed even close to closing time. Place is a little pricey but fully disclosed and they will refill hot water for tea.

Found this hidden gem on IG and was so excited to visit so we did! As my friend is leaving for Dubai tomorrow, we really planned to go there today. The place ambiance is superb! ❤️ Very cute, very instagrammable, serving sizes for food so worth the price, the plates and teacups really suits the place, even the paper napkins were colored pink, aaaaand we got a complimentary dessert also from the owners itself! Thank you soooo much 🤗 The only thing I'd recommend is to add more chicken dishes to the menu as I'm planning to bring more friends also next time who doesn't eat beef and very picky with food 😅 Other than that everything is perfect! ✨❤️ We were the only ones there when we came early afternoon so basically place was exclusive for us and we had lots of snaps of the place. Lucky 🤗🥰

Fun trip out and fun to get dressed up and wear hats

Fun trip out with some friends and all made the effort to dress and wear hats. We ordered two lots of the combo tier of sandwiches and pastries that comes with a pot of tea. Sadly the scones and the Victoria sponge were rather dry. The macrons had a weird artificial taste and not sure what the paste flavour in the middle was supposed to be but all six of us were disappointed. Some of us are quite avid bakers so perhaps a little more critical than others. Despite this we had a fun time and are hoping to make it a yearly outing. They do have a trunk with hats that you can borrow if you wish to have some fun. The interior is nicely decorated and the staff all very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend it.

Delicious!

I took my adult daughter here to celebrate her birthday. We booked reservations for the patio and had our own little corner table. We were glad that they did not only offer the standard "tea party" choices. I had a delicious mushroom soup with a scone and she had a lovely chicken salad plate. We ordered additional scones and an herbal tea. Everything was delicious! The decorating is over the top showy with stacks of tea pots, chandeliers and lots of pink and green artificial flowers. Just right for a girls fun lunch date!

Nicely decorated but will not go back.

I went here for a party and while the service was great, for the most part, and it was very nicely decorated I wouldn't go back. The scones were hard and tasted a little stale. The cookies were the same. The sandwiches were mostly bread with very little in the middle also with very little flavor. Tea choices were good. For the money I would look elsewhere for tea time.

I saw the English Rose Tea Room on Trip Advisor and after reading the description, reviews, and visiting the web site I knew it would be a place my wife would love. I booked a lunch reservation for one day and a formal afternoon tea time on another. The food both times was excellent. Service was great. Lunch and desserts were especially good.

A miracle in the desert -- in the middle of nowhere, an authentic scones and clotted cream English tea room with great ambience and service attitude. We go there two or three times a year. Ladies wearing hats fit right in, but there's no dress code so just relax and enjoy.

Ridiculous!

This was beyond disappointing and ridiculous! The food was terrible-nothing we had represented a true tea experience. Everything we had wre things we could have made at and they would have had flavor to them and tasted better! It was over crowded. There were 4 in our party and we were seated at a table really only suited for 2 people-ridiculous!! If you truly want a lovely tea experience, go to the Phoenician! It may cost a few more dollars, but it is so worth it!

That's a saying I love, and it fit's simply perfectly here. This tiny destination tea room is exquisite in a myriad of ways. The decor is simply adorable. The owner has kept the true feel of the place even with the greater distances between the tables, and everywhere your smiling eyes alight, there are beauteous trinkets, treasures and tchotchkes, many of which you're welcome to browse and buy. The service has been consistently exceptional on every visit over the years. Beautifully dressed, helpful, anticipatory and knowledgeable staff attend daintily to your every teatime whim. Without an iota of doubt, I can truly say that the food is the best of any tearoom I have ever visited, and that's some fair number, as I'm a Brit. It is a wonderful thing to have such a venue available to us here in the US.

Our Granddaughter Loved Afternoon Tea

This was our second visit to English Rose, but this time my husband and I treated our 6 year old granddaughter, and she loved it. She has even requested a return visit. I had been a little reluctant about taking her, but we were seated by tables with even younger children and it seemed like this was a child-friendly establishment. Tips: Make reservations in advance through OpenTable. On both visits, we sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air. If you have children, there is a small park across the street that they will enjoy. The not so good - Our table was small, so having all the plates, teapots, teacups & saucers, food, utensils etc. made it very cramped. Food was average for the price. Scones weren't very flavorful, but lots of Devon cream and jam fixed that. The good - Tea was great, especially our granddaughter's chocolate coconut tea. Children will enjoy the food here. Service was wonderful, and our server was especially kind to our granddaughter. You come here for the experience, and English Rose certainly provided a memorable time with our granddaughter.

Beautiful decorations of flowers tea pots and cups. Delicious afternoon tea.

Sat on beautiful shaded patio. Whimsical flowers and butterflies. Love the pretty pastel colors. Ordered afternoon tea with tiers of sandwiches, scones, and little desserts to share with two of us. Loved the salmon sandwich the best. Scone was amazing with superb clotted cream and strawberry jam. Big and fresh. Little desserts looked so good. We split them up to take home because we also ordered the shepherds pie to split. Seasoned perfectly. Chunks of meat and lots of veggies. Got grapes orange slices and strawberries with it. Very good attentive service. Just a really pleasant relaxing time.

Excellent Experience at English Rose Tea Room!!

We came in at the last minute this afternoon and the hostess had no tables until much later. But she suggested we come back in about 20 minutes and check with her to see if one of the tables had shown up. We did that an unfortunately they had shown up. At first she said she had nothing, then said wait, maybe I can squeeze you in .. and she did, very graciously and made sure that we felt well taken care of. Lovely treatment. The food was outstanding ... two difference quiches were wonderful, with fresh fruit lovely teas which we both loved. The piece de resistance was the scone which we shared. These are nothing like the scones I have had elsewhere. They were light and sweet and delicious with clotted cream and wonderful strawberry jam. I cannot say enough about what a lovely experience this was. Thank you so much!!!

I live in Pennsylvania and when I come to visit my daughter in Arizona we like to visit this establishment. We have tea places in PA that are delicious as well, but the scones here are my favorite. Will be back in September for another visit and making our reservations!

Best tea room in Arizona

The environment is amazing! It is like a roses, tea cups and pink immersion. So fun and so girly. I’ve been to this tea room 5 times in the last 6 months and I already booked the next reservation. Food is great, tea is amazing and service fantastic! Dress up for a complete experience. They provide different hats to make any look complete.
