This was two stars, rather than three! Table of nine for lunch, we had good service, despite being out of sight upstairs. Drinks service was good. I had the the prawn gumbo. The gumbo was a hot chilli in a rather tasteless sauce, no depth or complexity to the flavour. Gumbo was on boiled rice. There was a good number... More

Never disappointed here. Awesome selection of ales & spirits. Had Fillet steak here tonight and it was simply delicious. My wife had a Blue cod meal which was superbly cooked. The meal was an excellent size and left room for an amazing desert. Highly recommended to visit here for a meal and also to mention the totally awesome service by... More

We arrived after attending a wedding ceremony for a quick lunch. The venue was delightful inside, the outside was also lovely, but just needed a quick sweep. But it's understandably hard to manage due to the trees and wind so not a big deal. The food arrived promptly and it was delicious, the waitstaff were cheerful and helpful.

I think the top line says already all. Been here, started with a nice Speight's Gold Rush with a taste of Manuka honey. Had Lamb salat as starter and venison for man. Both brilliant. Interieur and building are kind of unusual but interesting. Check yourself.

The food was delicious. Would highly recommend it to everyone. Only issue was we had to ask for the dessert menu. Otherwise really good. I found it wasn't as noisy as the one in Ashburton and was a much more pleasant environment. Exceeded my expectations. I had the pasta special for the night and chocolate brownie for dessert.

A very pleasant meal, with good service and lots of menu choice in nice surroundings in an unusual building.

Food ok but busy with parties going on around us. Staff helpful and service relatively quick. Not huge choice.

Recently my son turned 20 and wanted to have a family meal at Speights where he worked as a schoolboy. The meal was fabulous, the service was great and the ambience was just what we wanted
