Had lunch with family. More arrived than we had booked for but it was no trouble to extend our tables. We ordered and the food arrived promptly. We were a large group and every meal we had ordered was tasty, well presented and a good portion size.I would recommend for good meat and fish - most with salad and fries.... More

We were passing through town and needed a decent meal. A table was found for us, the waiter was friendly enough but looked like he wanted to be somewhere else! Food was good, lamb salad lovely with plenty of lamb and dressing on it. Spare ribs very good. Plenty of GF options.

Had to drive from Nelson to Timaru in 1 day so thought we'd stop in Ashburton for dinner on the way. We chose Speights because it's just a consistent classic among kiwi staple restaurants. My fish was great, and loved the amount of garlic butter served with our loaf! On the other hand though, my partner's steak wasn't very good... More

I've eaten here a few times. There are no soft furnishings, curtains or carpet, so it's always quite noisy. The food is plentiful and tasty and I've found the staff welcoming and efficient.

Lovely outdoor area for catching up with friends and having lunch. The food was plentiful and well presented, enjoyed our time there and would go back there next time in Ashburton

Called in without a booking around 3pm on a Sunday & ordered a late lunch/early dinner. The staff were very friendly & the meals were very filling. The time to get the meals was good too. Pricing is reasonable too.

Ticks all the boxes - cold beer, good service, great food and free wi-fi (always useful for the Tripadvisor crew!) Twice this trip I've visited, the first time out in the beer garden which is rather sheltered, and with food in the restaurant afterwards. The food is of good quality and big portions - maybe even too much food for... More

We visited on 30 Dec for dinner without a reservation. Table was quickly found and friendly attentive staff quickly brought drinks and the specials available. We both chose the special Roast Pork. The food arrived quite quickly given that it was now really busy with three largish family groups. The Roast pork eas the most tender and moist pork I... More

We went for a Christmas gathering, we even ordered the Christmas cocktail, I would advise against it. They used to serve a mixed loaf of brown and white bread with garlic butter but this was enough to feed 8 of us, not a bad complaint? Tasteless on both counts. The steak was severely average and not sure it was the... More
