This is a great traditional spot in Avila, which serves delicious Spanish food - nothing like the tourist restaurants you might find around. The menu is full of classic dishes like Costillas, Escalopes, Tortillas, Croquetas... for quite affordable prices. Our waitress was extremely friendly and the service was quite fast. Would absolutely recommend!

I went there 10 years ago. Nothing changed. Same traditional atmosphere. Same menu. Very much in line expectations: good beef offer. Classic Spanish plates. Very friendly service. Rather soft pricing

Traditional restaurant with great variety of local dishes. Cooked with care and following original way. Judias, patatas revolconas, torreznos, chuletón, and good wines.

As my title explains, we stopped here 30+ years ago passing through on our way north and this is the first time we have able to be back. The restaurant appears to be part of the wall and has an antique hunting lodge feel. Not much has changed in style or in quality over the 30 years. We both had... More

I was obsessed with finding a place with the famous chuleton de Avila (big steak essentially) and I knew I wasn't going to find that in the town centre. The real meats in Spain are found out the towns in country asadors; much in the same way if you want good English food you go to a country pub, not... More

My wife and I had gone to the bar of the Meson El Rastro in the afternoon, and enjoyed refreshments in a pleasant setting with attentive service. We took a peek into the dining room. It looked inviting. The restaurant goes back many decades -- usually a good sign -- and it does a good job of sharing that history... More

Nice looking place, not too fancy though. The food is authentic. I know because my father and his side of the family eat there and they are locals from a small town of Avila. If locals eat there it's authentic! We had varios appetizers gazpacho, revuelto de espárragos y gambas, patatas revolconas, and croquetas which were all great. Then as... More

I went here for lunch today with the family to celebrate our one year anniversary. The family is from Avila, while my wife and I are American. The gazpacho was very refreshing, and the croquetas were better than those my mother in law makes. The steak was good but not great. The flan was the best I have ever had,... More

fair price, decent food, decent quality. It's a meson: hunk of meat, good wine, some nice appetizer to share and standard dessert. Nothing spectacular, but authentically spanish. I like this place

If you want an excellent Chuletón de Ávila not overpriced as in many other touritic restaurants in town, this is the place to choose. Not luxury, not so many alternatives to choose at the menu - but good quality anf fair prices (EUR 40 for two, including one chuleton of 750g and botlle of wine). Don't be afraid if you... More
