This was by far the worst motel we ever stayed at. We stayed in the “suite” with the kitchenette, to use the word “suite” to describe this place is laughable. It was so filthy, even the lamp shade had a big stain on it! There...was a huge gap in the door jamb that you could probably put your hand through. We definitely would have left the same night if we could have found another room in a different hotel. We were happy to leave the next day when we found a real motel. Don’t stay at this dump, it’s just awful.More

When we first moved to Alaska, we stayed there for a while. The rooms on one side had broken heaters. It was so hot, it must have been 120 degrees in the room. I was not able to sleep one night during the entire few...weeks we actually stayed there. The woman was very nice, and she brought us a fan. But, it was filthy and caked with dust. I had to clean it off, but that was disgusting. Even though it was snowing outside, and very cold, the heat was so stifling and hot that I had to sleep with my windows open, but I was unable to get a wink of sleep there, ever at all. During the first week I asked the man for some extra towels, and he was very rude and brusque, and refused to supply them. It was a really horrible place. I would never recommend it, not even to someone I didn't like. I was happy on the day I was able to move out. It was one of the worst motels I have ever stayed in during my entire life.More

Hotel: I stay here every year to sell my wares at the Alaska State Fair. While hotels aren't cheap in Alaska in the summertime, the Peak Inn hasn't let me down. I split the cost of a kitchennette suite with a couple coworkers, and bought...an air mattress from Wal Mart to sleep on. They do have rollaways, but they don't do best for my 6'4" frame. By the time I returned to my room on the first day, they had taken the air mattress out of the box, inflated it, and put sheets, blankets, and pillows on it. The hotel is a bit dated, but it's what we needed at the right place at the right time. Tracy Tzou, the owner, is quite the character. She'd remind you of Miss Swan from MADtv, only smarter and nicer. Restaurant: Delicious Chinese food with an Alaskan Twist (if you like)! Tracy's husband, Jack Tzou, is the head chef, and everything that came out of his kitchen was superb. My favorite dish, the "MUST EAT" is the Orange Halibut. They bring the same loving hospitality to their restaurant that they do to the motel: Dated, but treated well.More

It isn't a terrible hotel. They try to do all there laundry with 2 little home washers and one home dryer. This causes service to be a little lax. Unless you stay in one of the suits, ( which is one room with a kitchenett...and a dinning table and a small bathroom), you are not able to adjust your room tempeture. There are no airconditioning in any of the rooms. If you rent a regular room there isn't enough room to change your mind. The rooms are either to hot or to cold due to the central thermostat in the laundry room.More
