This place was poppin, about a 30 minute wait but so worth it. The halibut piccata is outstanding and coconut prawns is a good start. Huge windows in the dining room overlook Gastineau Channel, you can watch the seaplanes land if they’re coming in

The Hangar is a great place to go for variety and a healthy portion of food for your money. Everything I have had at the Hangar has always tasted great, the service is great and I never seemed to be disappointed when I eat there, which is quite often when I am in Juneau. The jambalaya is excellent as well as the burgers, and the fish and chips.

Our family of 7 came here after a long afternoon of whale watching on Auke Bay. We were tired, wearing rain pants & boots, and very hungry. We had made a reservation because of the size of our group and were seated immediately. The warm sourdough bread was exceptional, the beverage list was extensive, and the appetizers came out quickly. We shared salmon spread (which was 1000% more delicious than it sounded to me) on pita; flaming hot wings (I didn’t try but the boys loved); and coconut shrimp which was cooked to perfection. For entree I had the macadamia crusted halibut with a side of steamed broccoli. Best halibut of our 10 days in Alaska. Others in our party had the First Mate Plate (4 oz each of grilled salmon and halibut); the Pickled Rick chicken sandwich; the Cajun halibut burger; the halibut piccata served on pasta; and the king crab legs. The vegan among us had a trickier time of it but was able to order a green salad when we had appetizers, and an impossible burger for her meal. At this time they do not offer any gluten free bread or rolls at Hangar. Prices ranged from $20-33 for entrees but servings are quite generous. This was absolutely a high note for meals during our 10-day Alaska vacation.

The food at the Hanger is exceptional and it also has a great view and located right in town on the harbor. I had a bowl of the best fish chowder I've ever had with a nice size Caesar salad with unlimited French bead for $15. Best food deal on the whole trip . Wish I could eat there every week. Don't miss this place if you're in Juneau.

A local had recommended the Hanger on the Wharf. The coconut prawns, bread bowl combo ( freshly baked bread filled with chowder ) served with a Caesar salad and the local beer filled me up, while I sat outside to enjoy the outdoor scenery. On another day, the Jambalaya and the local beer pleased my hunger.

I was confused when the hostess told me there was a long wait for a table because the outside deck/patio was virtually empty. Apparently, everyone wanted to sit inside. When I asked about outdoors I was immediately seated. Which was great because the view of the harbor and the channel is amazing. Like million-dollar views. Service was good considering how busy they were that night. Food was average to good, but the views negated anything bad about the food. If I had complaints: 1) The menu has way too much. Just focus on the best burgers, steaks and seafood. 2) The very poor wine list. 3) The inefficient system of getting a table. It seems to me that all of the outdoor seating should be premium tables during warm weather months. I don't know why anyone would sit inside. But like I said, the view negates some of these issues. But they could be a lot better with a little effort.

We got right in to our table on a Thursday at 5:30, and loved the view! We got our drinks right away but it took awhile for the server to greet us. He was awesome, however, and we are extra patient knowing everyone is busy and shortstaffed. We got the smoked salmon spread appetizer, halibut tacos, halibut sandwich, and shrimp Alfredo. Everything was great! What really added a special touch was when the server saw my son with his legs in his shirt since he was cold. He brought over a hoodie, and then when he saw the one he brought for my other son wouldn't fit him, he got a bigger size! That was just going above and beyond. Great first restaurant experience for our first night in Juneau!

This restaurant was perhaps the only one in the area that is fully staffed and does not have long delays in service or missing menu items. The service was cheery and prompt - with the only exception being that the main course annoyingly came before we had finished appetizers. Flourless chocolate cake for desert was a highlight.

It was a busy Saturday night and hostess and waiter were very accommodating to let us sit outside on the deck. The food was fresh and very good, the tuna was especially delicious. Great service. Glad we were able to eat outside as inside seemed a bit stuffy and busy. Perfect final meal in Alaska.

Let's be real here, this is Juneau, a small town in Alaska with a load of summer tourists, and a lot less in the winter. So you do the best you can with what you have, but you do it with a smile, and deliver solid food. This is the Hanger - great service, fun people, solid food that will sooth your soul and satisfy your appetite.

Nice atmosphere. The restaurant is at the port where cruise ships are docked right outside the windows. They have seafood, steaks, pasta, burgers, sandwiches and more. they have a full service bar and a ramp that makes it easy for handicapped people to get in and out. It's usually crowded but we tried to get there a little early for our meals (twice) and it wasn't a bad wait. We arrived about 11 the first time and they were just opening so we were seated right away. The service was excellent the first time but quiet slow the second time because they were busier and our server was new and struggling to keep up. The seafood was the best that we had in Juneau. We also tried their ribeye, chicken fried steak and a burger. It was all good and the fries were the best we found while there. I highly recommend it. If we had found it first we might have eaten there all week.

Right on the harbor front. May be one of the few places in town that you can get fish that's not deep fried and also vegetables. I would go with a grilled fish without the sauces - I had citrus salmon and it was good but overwhelmed by the sauce. My husband just had his grilled and that looked tastier.

We stopped in for lunch. We both started off by ordering beers. After a bit, I ordered the salmon dip, and my wife ordered the seafood chowder. Along with that, we ordered a side of sourdough bread. When the food came out, my wife's chowder was so hot she couldn't eat it. But once it cooled off, it was filled with chunks of halibut and salmon. She really thought it was wonderful. My salmon dip was good, but not great. It seemed like processed salmon and not fresh Alaskan salmon Service was good considering how busy it was. We'd recommend heading there on your next cruise.

I spent one week in Dec 2018 in Alaska's capital Juneau. In this time I was 4 times for dinner in " Hangar On The Wharf " - rstaurant and I liked this very much. The food was great, the taste was outstanding and the service excellent, even when the restaurant was very full of people. Special I enjoyed the dessert very much because I liek sweets over all. I would recommend this restaurant while visiting all the time, even in the Alaskan winter when the streets are after 4 p.m. already dark . . .

This place was so good we went there twice! They have gluten free vegetarian options that have taste and flavor. The staff were all personable and knowledgeable on the menu options. The veggie burger and the salmon burger were our favorites. The view and location can not be beat.
