Pulled in at closing time for a quick bite after hiking the Perseverance Trail. No show was going on, but the burgers and hospitality were great. Probably best to come here after the cruise crowds are gone if your looking for a quiet meal

My wife and I along with another couple went to have a drink at the Red Dog Salon. We were on a Celebrity Cruise ship in August 2022. Baldini is a 81 year old singer who is incredibly entertaining. He is funny and you will...be singing along with him I guarantee it. His songs are more adult like. Please do not miss him you will regret it.More

Great place, great solo musician/singer, and had a great time until the waitress tried to rip us off, which really ruined it for us. I gave her a 20 for two beers as we thought we'd only stop for one round; she never, never brought...our change and it appeared she was intentionally ignoring us as she'd serve the next table but ignore my waves. Then we decided to stay for another round anyway as the musician was so good; she finally came over and I said we want 2 more beers and "oh you owe us change for the first round". She gave us this really lame excuse about being busy but it was such a fake excuse and you could tell she knew it was -- she's probably used it on hundreds of tourists. I will never go back but if you go use a credit card and check the charges. and don't put up with any funny stuff at other places anywhere in trhe US about "oh I forgot to add that last round but you can pay me in cash" which has happened to us by other slick waiters at other places and then they just pocket the cash from your last round.More

We stopped by on a Thursday night and were two of about 8 people in the bar/restaurant around 8:30 pm. It was definitely slow season being late September. We enjoyed the bar tender and the atmosphere so much, we brought my inlaws to lunch the...next day. At lunch, the cruise ships were in and the place was packed. An older gentleman took to the piano and entertained us with his humor and song. He performs there frequently and kept the jokes "clean" but slightly risque. Food was enjoyable and the service was as expected in a crowded environment. The staff were dressed in late 1800-period clothing and there is sawdust covering the floor. You go to this place to have fun, so enjoy it and come with "fun" expectations and not one of fine dining or sophistication.More

We were out and about all day and suddenly got hangry….figured we would try the Red Dog. Mistake. Only 4 beers on tap, and a choice of cheap ($8) or cheaper wine ($6). Should have gone super cheap, as “better wine” wasn’t good. Ordered the...Alaskan reindeer sausage sandwich ($13.95), to dry and overcooked to eat. Hubby’s Mother load burger ($13.95) was average at best. Atmosphere is country with sawdust on the floor and a guy singing old country songs. While fun, not worth the crummy food, nor the lack of Alaskan craft beer.More

This place has pricey drinks, sawdust on the floor and live music most of the time. There is an upstairs that overlooks the ground floor.

This place, if you have read past reviews, is one of my favorite places of all time anywhere. That being said, this time it felt "off". It felt this way because it was super crowded and hard to get in. It was the end of...the season and way to many people for me. What pleased me was the staff was A+ all the way. This is ONE reason I love to go there. The other two reasons are the food and the bar. I did not have food this trip as I really didn't "want to " wait around but I met two wonderful people which in all truth kept me at the bar drinking and yakking about all things Juneau, Alaska, and Las Vegas. One of the two dudes I was talking to was from there. I had the Alaskan Brewery Amber beer and three shots of the Duck Fart. This is there signature shot. Yes, it is very tasty but be careful, it packs a punch. The gift store, due to the end of the season, looked picked through but you could find what you were looking for. So overall I gave this place a 4 because it was just too many folk for me. Oh, yes they had live music if that is your thing. Please, this is a place is not to be missed.More

Friends told us this was a must see in Juneau and they weren’t wrong. Dropped in for a couple of drinks and a look around. Our waitress was a lot of fun, friendly and very efficient given how busy the place was. Had a couple...of local IPAs and the ladies tried the duck farts cocktail. Great atmosphere and really demonstrates an era long gone. Make sure you stay and listen to the old timer on the guitar, the banter between him and the staff is hilarious. There’s also a gift shop attached, picked myself up a t-shirt as a souvenir.More

Went for one reason and one reason only. I wanted to see the gun Wyatt Earp left behind. It was a cool saloon and great history. We had a delicious snack and my husband knocked back a Duck Fart shot. It was a great stop....Glad we went! The old man playing the piano was funny and great! And the gun….well….I brought chills to my spine.More

The place was easy to find and welcomed at the door. Had it packed in their right but that’s fine. The music was pretty awful but probably fitting to the old time theme. The sound system was really bad though and too annoyingly loud. Should...reinvent their food ideas to accommodate snacks cruisers. Enjoyed the setting and the costumes.More

It was way more fun when they still had the piano player. It could be more fun later in the evening but our ship was only berthed until late afternoon. It was super busy with servers slinging beers and food orders at an amazing rate.

My wife and I love giving positive posts, but we had a most unfortunate experience today which makes us reluctant to even give one star to this saloon. We are on a cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage and stopped in Juneau for the day we...were looking for a pub to have a beer and some snacks, we heard the piano comedy and were drawn into the red dog saloon. We were seated upstairs in our servers name was Red. We ordered a beer and some pretzel sticks, a few minutes later both were delivered to our table by another staff member at the same time a gentleman at the table next to us asked us if we wanted the pretzel sticks that were delivered to his table as he didn’t order any. We graciously accepted his order. Shortly there after read came to our table and said why do you have their pretzel sticks? I said because he gave them to us. She said do you want to orders and I said no. I could hear them at the tablenext-door apologizing to his wife not knowing that she had ordered the pretzel sticks. Since I had already combined both orders a pretzel sticks to one plate, she asked me to move our pretzel sticks off of one plate under the other… As I did so feeling humiliated, we could hear the gentleman‘s wife at the next table saying I don’t want the pretzel sticks after they touch them… Of which I completely agree. Red tried to serve the pretzel sticks from our table over to their table which I think we will all agree is below any health department standards. The nice lady at the table next-door requested that Raad bring them a fresh order of breadsticks. So here we were both of our tables or patrons to their establishment in good faith ordering food and anticipating a minimum level of service, but both of our tables were absolutely taken back by Reds horrific, curmudgeonly, cold disposition treating both of our tables like we had done something wrong or unethical. The next 10 to 15 minutes was very uncomfortable for both for our tables as I think we all wanted to get out of that place as quick as possible. Positive point, if there is one in this whole story is that upon getting up from the table to leave my wife and I and the other members of the table next to us could not stop apologizing to each other enough for any role that we played in this fiasco and we even exchanged trip information in our home towns like any other couples on vacation. Bottom line we will never go into this establishment again nor will we ever encourage clients visit in Juneau to go into this establishment… So very unfortunate as we pride ourselves upon pointing out the very best and most positive attributes that TripAdvisor followers can find useful in their travels. Please forgive me for any negativity here, it’s been about four hours and I’m still trying to get over my distain for red and the red dog saloon. Happy travels everyone and enjoy Juneau just go to a different bar pub or saloon for a snack.More
