We were on a catamaran cruise and decided not to take the shuttle back from to the hotel. We went upstairs at the marina and found Sunrice Sushi there. Menu looked delicious and we decided to have dinner there. This was day 9 of our...11 day visit to Costa Rica and we ate many lunch/dinner out. Every meal was paid in American and if I received Costa Rica dollars back, the exchange rate always made sense. When I received this bill and paid, I said to the waitress that I believe that she gave the incorrect change back. She assumed my that the Sunrice exchange was correct. I showed her the app that I was using and it showed the proper daily exchange rate (used it our entire trip). The waitresses questioned me all about the app. I said to her that every meal paid on my trip provided the correct amount of change. Sorry...this is the right amount she said. Guess what...I received half of what I should have received. I showed the bill to the hotel and they assured me that I did NOT receive the correct amount back. Food was good but the end of our service left a sour taste in our mouths. I have to say that tipping on top of the already calculated tip is not necessary (according to our travel agent and Costa Rica tour advisor) I typically left every server while on vacation more than what was already added on the bill....not this time! Beware and count your change!!More

We are glad you enjoyed the food. After all we are a restaurant not a bank. We can’t change the rates daily according to your app as we are busy getting our delicious food prepared for customers who appreciate the quality food and service they...More

Love this place! Super delicious, really creative food. The “Tico rolls” were amazing. Plantain & avocado around crab & rice. Sounds weird, but actually SO GOOD! If you’re in the area, skip all the other typical restaurants. Reasonable prices too.

My favorite sushi around the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area. Great environment, friendly staff, and most importantly awesome food. It’s located in a great spot at the Marina.

We’re seafood addicts and couldn’t get over how fresh the fish was here! Amazing service for us Nova Scotians and we got to meet the owner and chat with him. He’s an extremely friendly guy who takes lots of pride in his restaurant. Great place...to enjoy supper!More

Sunrice is the best restaurant I have ever been to. They are very attentive to food allergies/dietary restrictions and offer a variety of Gluten Free, Dairy Free, and Vegan options. The service is incredible. I went twice with my mom and the second time the...owner recognized that my mom had picked out the onions from her Chicken Teriyaki Bowl and made it without them! The ingredients are super fresh, especially the tuna. I would (and do) recommend this to anyone I meet visiting Quepos/Manuel Antonio. This is genuinely my favorite restaurant in the whole world. Keep up the great work!More

I was a little skeptical about going to a Sushi restaurant in Costa Rica, but my concerns were unfounded. You will find traditional favorites, as well as specialty rolls with a Costa Rican flair. I tried the Tiki Roll (I think that is what it...was called) which had some sweet plantain on top. What a nice surprise.More

On one if our last days in Quepos and after reading all the great reviews, we decided to try Sunrice Sushi. It was located in the Marina of Quepos. What a disappointment. I am usually generous with my reviews and I can not give this...place more then 3 stars. It was likely the best sushi restaurant in the area. The menu did not have any sushi with cream cheese which is usally a very good sign. However, when we take into consideration the value and overall experience, it was probably one of our least favorite meals during our stay. Dont get me wrong, the food was fine and we didnt get sick or anything. Everything was just ordinary and expensive. The cocktails were basic and not much flavor. The sushi overall was very heavy and almost every « special » was packed with a significant amount of tempura or a heavy mayonnaise sauce. Some reviewers wrote that the portions were « small ». I disagree. Just the opposite. The portions were too big. The sushi rolls we ordersed had about 8 pieces which made it difficult to taste different variations being only 2 people. I wish the waitress could have helped more with recommendations. We ordered several which were unknowingly similar. In the end, this place cost almost twice an average meal in Costa Rica and it was definitely not worth it.More

You got something correct: Sunrice is the best sushi restaurant in the area. The fact that you think it’s a good sign when sushi is served with cream cheese is all anyone needs to read. Your tastes are less than pedestrian - there’s actually no...More

Wow!! Really great place... high quality sushi and that's coming from a sushi snob. Service was as good as the food. We had some wine and ordered a lot of stuff and nothing disappointed. The Crispy rice was a must!! Also, it's by the marina...and located in a shopping area with cute stores and other nice restaurants. Finally, go to the gelato place right next door after some wine/sushi !!More
