Our family enjoyed pizza, wraps and burgers along with fun, fruity drinks at El Wagon last week. We were staying at Costa Verde so it was an easy uphill walk to the restaurant. The initial service is somewhat slow, but as others have mentioned, the food is prepared quickly. The views of the rainforest are amazing and the food was good quality and reasonably priced. I appreciated that the menu listed prices after tax and service, so you understand the true cost. My family of 5 ate for $70 which included 2 mixed drinks/1 glass of wine.

This pizza is GOOD!!! I'm a food and wasn't sure I could really eat great pizza in Costa Rica, this restaurant made my mind change! The only mistake we made was getting each our own pizza. One to share would have been just perfect. We also ordered a pitcher of the sangria, it was good.... and the pitcher was a 1,75L jug!!! Generous portions, great service and chilled ambiance! My hubby enjoyed the rocking chairs, i didn't as much, but a lovely waitress brought me a regular chair!

Our family visited El Wagon last week and were very very happy with the food. We had heard so much about the airplane restaurant close to it but when we looked at their menu, they didn’t have too many vegetarian options.
El Wagon on the other hand had great vegetarian and plant based options, so we decided to go there.
The atmosphere is warm, friendly and set amongst the trees. We ordered the mint lemonade and it was so refreshing on the hot day. Some places get the lemon/Mint ration wrong (either too sour or too minty) but not this one - it was perfect!
We ordered two vegetarian pizzas, the salad and the plant based nachos. Everything was very fresh. Each dish was better than the other. They went above and beyond to make sure everything we ordered was vegetarian and had not meat/seafood in it. The pizza’s crust was perfect and made fresh on site (you can see it being made).
In a corner of Costa Rica, I would not have thought that I would find such delicious pizza! Highly recommend going here whether you are vegetarian or not!

Great vibe. You sit in rocking chairs around your table. The wine pours were generous and the pizza was delicious. We ordered three kinds of pizza all of which were delicious and was enough to feed four people. I liked that they didn’t rush us and we could chill out for a bit even though we were done with our meal.

My husband and I ate at El Wagon twice when we stayed in Manuel Antonio. The atmosphere is cozy and jungle-like and most of the tables have rocking chairs. The service was quick and friendly. Both times the manager stopped by our table to talk to us and see how we were doing. He was very engaging. Their pizza is really good, and I highly recommend the Nutella pizza for dessert. The prices are very affordable and much cheaper than eating at a resort.

We visited this restaurant with American friends who have been coming to Costa Rica for 20 years. I'm originally from Brooklyn and now live near Trenton, NJ so I have strong opinions about pizza! I was skeptical, but this was really wonderful thin crust pizza! I even tasted the Hawaiian pizza with pineapple, something I never thought I would even try and it was good! There are multiple vegetarian options. My favorite was the margarita. The place doesn't have a great ocean view, but it is attractive and fun, with wonderful mosaics. I look forward to returning for another great pizza meal.

We were there during a significant rainstorm and it was very crowded. It took a long time for someone to take our order, but once the order was taken the food arrived quickly and was excellent. We had 2 pizzas and an appetizer of caprese flatbread and everything was great and very reasonably priced. The sign outside says hot dogs and beer but it is actually a great wood fire brick oven pizza place built around a train car.

It's one of the best wooded fired pizza that I've tried. The taste is amazing and they have diferent options, either italians or classical for your sense. The cost for a medium pizza is 14 usd. I think that is cheap

This is a very DISHONEST restaurant trying to overcharge $52.00 US for 2 margaritas! We ordered 2 pizzas (which wete quite average) and 2 margaritas and the bill came up to $86.00 US! They were not busy and they obviously tried to overcharge what they perceived as two unaware tourists. We have dined at many wonderful restaurants in Manuel Antonio for the past 2 weeks and have NEVER had such an unpleasant and negative experience as we have at El Wagon Pizza. They do not deserve the patronage when there are clearly so many other excellent and ethical places to dine here in Manuel Antonio.

Overall the pizza was very tasty - we liked the Pepperoni with artichoke and mushrooms. It was oven fired thin-crust pizza. One pizza is probably sufficient for two or three people. The price was reasonable and the service was good. We enjoyed watching the monkeys in the woods near the restaurant, though we knew they were looking for food. One monkey climbed into the bar and ran off with a can of beer we think.

Our kids were looking for pizza and while we had our reservations we tried El Wagon based on a concierge’s recommendation. While the atmosphere was nice, service was slow (despite the place being half empty) and inattentive. Add to that the fact that the food, including but not limited to the pizza, was just “eh”, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

We normally eat at El Wagon at least once every trip to the Manuel Antonio area. This time a group of 6 went for lunch after spending the morning at the beach.
I like their thin crust brick oven wood fire baked pizza. I had the Diavolo which I enjoyed. The spiced or garlic oils which you can use in the pizza if you want is a tasty and nice touch.
Other orders at our table were veggie pizzas, a burger and chicken nachos. Everyone was happy with their meals. Although pizza is the specialty, there is quite a varied menu. Wraps, burgers, nachos and Hebrew National hot dogs are some of the things available.
The service was attentive and good. Cesar and the rest of the staff are friendly and efficient.
From my experiences, if you are there in the mid afternoon you have a good chance of seeing monkeys in the trees behind the restaurant. ( though of course there are no guarantees. )

Had dinner here twice! Had a large table to accommodate big groups, and smaller tables too! The open air atmosphere was incredible. Relaxing, fun and great for socializing. The menu was diverse enough to satisfy vegetarians, kids and meat eaters. Food was prompt and delicious. The second time we came we were welcomed like old friends! The mojito and pina colada were delicious!!! Also try the pizza and veggie wrap!

We stopped here for lunch after a day at the beach. It was about 1/2 way back to our Airbnb so a perfect pit stop on the uphill climb home.
The service was excellent and the outdoor space in the trees was serene. We ordered the margarita pizza and the Mediterranean pizza - perfect thin crust, nice and crispy from the wood burning oven. Both were excellent and big enough to bring some home for later.
The free Wi-Fi allowed us to check into the real world and post some pictures from the beach.

We went to El Wagon for our final meal in Manuel Antonio and it did not disappoint. We shared a caprese salad, a pizza with artichokes, ham and salami, and spaghetti Carbonara, which they generously divided up into two nice servings. The food was very good and the service was very rapid and attentive throughout the meal. The total cost with two soft drinks and service came to US$ 46.
