On the main road of town next Amimodo Pizza. The catch of the day was sword fish -- simply prepared with grilled vegetables and fries. It was the best sword fish that we ever had outside of Italy. With a cold glass of white wine -- all was as it should be in this laid back Caribbean beach town. A... More

This place is not easy to find (a sign would be nice) but, it is worth the search. Nothing fancy (it is Puerto Viejo after all) but the fresh fish will blow you away. Can be a little slow but definitely worth the wait. It's ALL about the fresh fish, if you aren't a fish lover, this won't be it... More

So the instructions were if you see the red dodge dump truck and boat out front it means he's open ....okay.... as we stood there trying to distinguish between this place and the pizza joint patio next door (no signage) he (Lazlo) said "this is it, you found it". Tables were already taken early so we sat at the bar... More

It really is the catch of the day. These fish were swimming in the morning and being enjoyed by all in the evening. Nothing fresher exists here. Excellent taste, big portions, and a passion and pride in what's being served.

Place is hilarious. Owner and son playing cribbage and hanging out. A few beers, for us, later and the son comes over and says, " what are you having, king fish, snapper, or swordfish." There is no menu, it is whatever the catch was from the morning. Ended up with swordfish and snapper. Guess what, it was legit. Cooked perfectly... More

My husband and I stumbled on this restaurant while roaming and hungry but the place was packed . The owner indicated our wait would be long and suggested we come earlier the next night, which we did . There were two fresh fish selections on our visit , I had one and my husband had the other - both were... More

Heard from the locals that the food is excellent--but the service needs improvement. That said, it took a bit (about 15 minutes) to get my first Cuba Libre (rum & coke) as the bartender had to skateboard down the street to pick up coke and other liquor after organizing the bar. When I asked for a menu, the owner (I... More

Amazing fish dinner that was seasoned just right! There are no menus, just the choice of whatever fish was caught that morning, with vegetables and cold drinks. Family owned and operated, very sociable and hospitable.

This restaurant is worth looking for! As you face Mamma Mia's pizza, Lazlo's is on the left. To the right of Mamma Mia's is Exploradores. To the left of Lazlo's is the Caribbean information centre. There is a Hungarian flag hanging beside the bar. We only had a choice of Mahi Mahi or Red snapper. Both were grilled perfectly and... More
