I have eaten here with my family three times. The food is good but it is more expensive than other restaurants nearby. The tables are informal. The food is typical of the region: rice and beans, Caribbean chicken and seafood.

Tamara offer very good and authentic food, and they have good prices. The portion are big, and they brought the food very fast. The publication is in the Down Town.

Ordered: carne en salsa Casado, pescado entero, and chicken in caribe sauce. Chicken tastes like it had been slightly burned in a crockpot, fish was bland and Carne ok. Staff was great and restaurant ambience nice.

There are so many restaurants in Puerto Viejo, and the small business turnover is high. If you can eat at only one place, be it Tamara. This is one of the oldest and best place on the Caribbean coast, a place full of history. The food is caribbean, simple, tasty, with flavours, generous portions and a reggae vibe most of... More

We came to the restaurant to take advantage of happy hour and ordered lime margaritas. We actually had to send them back because they had too much salt!! My companions ordered mango daiquiris instead and they weren't much better. Being a garlic lover, I ordered the garlic fish but it had too much garlic (trust me there is such a... More

We had lunch here. The cheese burger was tasteless and my wife's octopus was really bad. No imagination, no effort to make good food (it's not that difficult), no ambiance, no energy. Just plain bad. The service was good.

Bad food, we ordered very simple dishes but even the scampi in the "Caribean salad" (only greens, onions and 6 shtimp, no dressing) were not done well at all, the rice & beans which are supposed to be good here were without flavor. Waste of money (that being said this place is not cheap either!!). We complained, she nodded and... More

If you were looking for a place with a good view of the main street of Puerto Viejo for some drinks, this is the place. It has a second floor with a balcony like for you to seat and look out.

I am sorry to say that this was the first restaurant my friend and I went to after getting to Costa Rica (we went to Puerto viejo straight after landing in San Jose). At the time, on a Monday night, it was one of the only things in town open. Couple hours later, we have both been quite sick (lasting... More
