With a name like Pasta Casera you might think of this place only for pasta. However, we were referred to this place by a longtime Tamarindo local who recommended the empanadas. We have eaten here several times since getting that amazing tip. Our favorites are...the beef and three cheese, but they're all good -- spinach and cheese, ham and cheese, chicken. We even had a nutella pie which was also very yummy.More
One member of our party had the empanadas, which he said were delicious. The remaining three of us had chicken panini sandwiches. Fabulous!! There was a bit of a wait while they were prepared (about 10 minutes), but once they came out we realized it...was totally worth the wait. The chicken was thinly sliced, and grilled to perfection. Fresh and delicious bread. Highly recommend you try this place when in Tamarindo!!More
The empinadas are good. But the employees weren’t watching the counter so I stood there for a while. The woman who finally served me seemed annoyed to be serving someone who isn’t Spanish-first-language. I know a little Spanish but when someone mumbles a price at...me in any language I’m going to ask them to repeat themselves. When I did so here, this employee sighed and rolled her eyes at me. Maybe if she doesn’t like English speaking tourists then she should work somewhere other than a heavily touristed beach town? Anyway, I won’t be giving them my money again.More
We were lucky enough to find this spot. Tried the beef , chicken and spinach and cheese empanadas and all were absolutely delicious! $2.00 each is worth it. They also sell other pasta dishes. Had 2 in one sitting and very filling . Must try...when in tamarindo!More
Some of the best empanadas we've had in all our Latin American travels. Made fresh daily, the pollo(chicken) and carne(beef) are huge and stuffed to the max. We carried a steaming bag of goodness back to our cabina every time we passed the place. Awesome...fresh but just as good for the late night munchies or the next morning for breakfast.
Tip of the Day.. Pick up a few for the plane trip home(and a small bottle(100ml) of Lizano from the mercado around the corner), watch the faces of other passengers as you gorge on fresh(more or less) baked empanadas while they choke down days old dry airline sandwiches and wraps..
